About The Position

Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Mobility, Surveillance & Bombers (MS&B) is seeking a Project Engineer (Experienced or Lead) in support of Electrical Design & Integration (EDI). This position will be onsite in Oklahoma City, OK but will sometimes require travel to San Antonio, TX and Tukwila, WA. The role involves supporting Military and Military Commercial Derivative Aircraft (MCDA) airplanes in-service, in-production and under development. The Project Engineer will lead special projects and initiatives in areas of safety, certification, and performance, as well as program issues directed by the Electrical Design & Integration (EDI) capability director. Responsibilities include developing integrated plans, establishing and leading teams, monitoring technical developments, managing risks and opportunities, and supporting cross-functional integration. The role also entails leading detailed investigations to ensure system integration and compliance, communicating with internal and external customers, and regulators/suppliers. Candidates must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a US Secret security clearance Post-Start.

Requirements

  • US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a US Secret security clearance Post-Start.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • 9+ years’ experience performing complex engineering or system integration work (for Level 4)
  • 3+ years experience in leading and/or managing complex projects (for Level 4)
  • 3+ years experience developing and maintaining relationships and partnerships with senior executives, customers, stakeholders, peers and business partners (for Level 4)
  • 14+ years’ experience performing complex engineering or system integration work (for Level 5)
  • 5+ years experience in leading and/or managing complex projects (for Level 5)
  • 5+ years experience developing and maintaining relationships and partnerships with senior executives, customers, stakeholders, peers and business partners (for Level 5)
  • Must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. A “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Nice To Haves

  • ABET accredited bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Computer Science or related field
  • 5+ years of experience with Bombers and/or Military Derivative Aircraft (for Level 4)
  • 2+ years of experience with US and/or foreign aircraft certification/regulatory processes (for Level 4)
  • Military aircraft design and/or analysis experience within Electrical Systems, Wire Design, Wire Installation, and/or Equipment Installation, working with Military and Regulatory Administrations
  • Good communication skills and initiative, acting without supervision
  • Adaptable and able to operate in a dynamic environment to meet objectives on time
  • Certification and/or experience working with FAA regulations and Regulatory Administration
  • Project Management exposure / experience (e.g., Earned Value Management, Control Account Management, etc.)
  • Ability to quickly analyze, understand, organize and communicate complex technical concepts/problems across multiple disciplines
  • Experience with leading major design changes through multiple phases of product and certification lifecycle
  • Ability to work out of comfort zone, where process definition does not exist or is unclear. Take ownership/initiative, pull teams together, establish battle rhythm and remove roadblocks
  • 7+ years’ of experience with Bombers and/or Military Derivative Aircraft (for Level 5)
  • 5+ years’ of experience with US and/or foreign aircraft certification/regulatory processes (for Level 5)

Responsibilities

  • Be an integral part of supporting Military and Military Commercial Derivative Aircraft (MCDA) airplanes in-service, in-production and under development.
  • Lead special projects and initiatives in the areas of safety, certification, and performance as well as program issues as directed by the Electrical Design & Integration (EDI) capability director
  • Develop integrated plans, establish and lead teams, monitor and respond to technical developments throughout the life of a program
  • Manage risks & opportunities, and support cross-functional & cross-Integrated Product Team issues
  • Lead cross-functional technical integration, certification and project management in support of resolving complex issues to help deliver airplanes, return airplanes into service, resolve supply chain issues, mitigate risks, actualize opportunities, delivery and production stream sustainability
  • Lead detailed investigations to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements and to preclude safety issues
  • Communicate routinely with Internal and External Customers (peers, stakeholders, senior and executive leadership), Regulators and/or suppliers
