Software Engineer (Experienced or Lead)
About The Position
The Boeing Company is hiring Experienced and Lead Software Engineers for a Digital Twin Software Simulation and Deployment Engineer role supporting Strategic Space Communications Programs in El Segundo, California, within the Boeing Defense Services business unit. The team builds software- and hardware-based satellite simulators and emulators for satellite systems serving U.S. government and commercial customers. The position supports software projects in an agile CI/CD environment and focuses on cybersecurity and zero-trust controls for system-level simulators. The engineer will design, implement, test, and maintain cybersecurity controls and simulation software for deployment in zero-trust environments. The role works with technically diverse users and multidisciplinary teams, including Systems, Software, and Cyber Security. It also supports cybersecurity compliance, continuous monitoring, authorization, and configuration automation. The position is expected to be 100% onsite at a listed location option. An active U.S. Secret clearance is required; U.S. citizenship is required for the clearance. The position offers relocation to eligible candidates and does not offer employment visa sponsorship.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher (or equivalent).
- At least 3 years of experience in Cybersecurity, Information Assurance, Information Technology Management, or Systems Engineering.
- At least 3 years of experience with modern programming and scripting languages such as C++, Java, JavaScript, Perl, Python, or Visual Basic.
- Experience using Git in a Linux environment.
- Experience with all aspects of designing and implementing cybersecurity controls, processes, and procedures.
- Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance; a clearance active within the past 24 months is considered active. U.S. citizenship is required for this clearance.
- Must complete a technical assessment as part of the selection process.
- Must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements as a U.S. Person.
- Must satisfy Boeing’s Conflict of Interest assessment process.

- For Level 4: 9 or more years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science and 5 or more years of related work experience; or a bachelor’s degree and 9 or more years of directly related work experience; or 13 or more years of related, relevant experience.
- Experience with the full software development lifecycle, from requirements analysis through formal qualification and deployment.
- Experience bringing products through interim authorization to test and authorization to operate (ATO).
- Experience implementing infrastructure- and deployment-environment software or tools, such as containerization, message brokering, or software APIs.
- Experience automating software builds, unit tests, and integration tests using a DevOps tool chain.
Responsibilities
- Review, analyze, translate, and implement customer cybersecurity and zero-trust environment requirements for software-based simulation products.
- Architect, design, integrate, modify, test, and debug simulation software for integration and deployment in a zero-trust environment.
- Conduct cyber vulnerability analysis for the Digital Twin Software Simulation application.
- Interface with technically diverse users and multidisciplinary teams, including Systems, Software, and Cyber Security.
- Work with the simulation team and customer to provide evidence that products meet cybersecurity controls.
- Perform periodic cybersecurity compliance assessments and remediation, such as STIGs or RMF, to support continuous monitoring and authorization efforts.
- Work independently and collaboratively to deliver solutions to complex technical challenges.
- Design and write custom tools and processes to support configuration automation.
