About The Position

The Boeing Company is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to join its Space Mission Systems (SMS) software capability team in El Segundo, California. The team is hiring at Associate, Experienced, and Lead levels. The selected candidate will develop embedded cyber resiliency software for a large-scale satellite program, integrate software with multiple platforms and flight software, develop tools, build development and integration platforms, execute software testing, and conduct Cyber Vulnerability Analysis (CVA). The engineer will work with flight software and product security teams to support engineering excellence and program objectives.

The position is expected to be 100% onsite. An active U.S. Secret Security Clearance is required; a clearance active within the past 24 months is considered active. U.S. citizenship is required for the clearance, and the position must also meet U.S. export-control requirements for a U.S. Person. Candidates must complete a technical assessment as part of the selection process. The role is not contingent upon a program award. Relocation may be offered based on candidate eligibility. Boeing will not sponsor applicants for employment visa status.

The position requires a bachelor’s degree or higher and at least one year of experience in embedded real-time software development, C/C++ coding or Java/Python scripting, real-time operating systems, and automating software builds, tests, deployment, and installations with a DevOps toolchain using Artifactory and/or GitLab. Preferred experience varies by level: Level 3 calls for five or more years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience; Level 4 calls for nine or more years or an equivalent combination. Additional preferred education and experience combinations include a relevant Bachelor of Science degree with five or more years of related experience, a bachelor’s degree with nine or more years of directly related experience, or 13 or more years of related experience.

Summary pay ranges are $106,250–$143,750 for Associate (Level 2), $135,150–$182,850 for Experienced (Level 3), and $171,700–$232,300 for Lead (Level 4). Pay depends on candidate experience and qualifications and market and business considerations. Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher (also stated as a bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
• At least one year of experience with embedded real-time software development.
• At least one year of experience with C/C++ coding or Java/Python script development.
• At least one year of experience working with real-time operating systems (RTOS).
• At least one year of experience automating software builds, unit tests, integration tests, deployment, and installations using a DevOps toolchain with Artifactory and/or GitLab.
• Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance; a U.S. clearance active in the past 24 months is considered active. U.S. citizenship is required for the clearance.
• Must meet U.S. export-control compliance requirements as a U.S. Person.
• Must complete the required technical assessment to remain under consideration.
• Must satisfy the Company’s Conflict of Interest (COI) assessment process.

Responsibilities

• Design, integrate, modify, test, and debug software for embedded devices and systems in accordance with industry, customer, safety, and regulatory standards.
• Review, analyze, and translate customer requirements for embedded software products.
• Build and write embedded systems software for specialized hardware.
• Integrate embedded software with hardware components.
• Analyze, monitor, and improve the efficiency and stability of embedded software systems.
• Test and debug software for embedded devices and systems.
• Drive software execution to deliver products on cost and schedule.
• Support satellite and payload software safety, assurance, quality, and engineering excellence.
• Produce design and test documentation and artifacts.
• Conduct Cyber Vulnerability Analysis (CVA) for multiple processing platforms within the satellite vehicle architecture.
• Design and implement cyber monitoring algorithms.
• Design and write custom tools to support configuration automation and improve development workflow.
• Integrate software with multiple platforms and flight software, build development and integration platforms, and work with flight software and product security teams.
