About The Position

The Project Engineer will support field operations and engineering coordination across one of the SR400 segments. This role is responsible for short-term planning, documentation, and technical support to ensure construction activities are executed efficiently and in compliance with project requirements. The Project Engineer works closely with superintendents, subcontractors, and senior engineers to track progress, manage documentation, and contribute to quality and safety performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of field experience in infrastructure, roadway, or bridge construction preferred.
  • Familiarity with GDOT projects and knowledge of AASHTO and FHWA standards is a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to field offices and job sites as needed.
  • Basic knowledge of cost tracking, budget monitoring, and field production documentation.
  • Proficiency in construction technologies and software such as Primavera P6, Procore, Bluebeam, and HCSS.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and traffic control plans.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills with both field and office teams.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain three-week lookahead schedules for structures, drainage, utilities, and paving activities.
  • Monitor and report daily production data using cost codes aligned with the project’s Work Breakdown Structure (WBS).
  • Coordinate with field crews to ensure availability of materials, equipment, permits, and resources.
  • Manage RFIs, submittments, and field documentation, including redlines and as-built drawings.
  • Support compliance with GDOT specifications, TIFIA reporting, and SRTA environmental requirements.
  • Attend and contribute to weekly progress and safety meetings with field personnel and stakeholders.
  • Track site activity using project documentation systems such as Procore, HCSS, and Bluebeam.
  • Assist with quantity takeoffs, estimating, and resource planning in coordination with senior engineers.
  • Support quality inspections, material certifications, and permit tracking.
  • Participate in project closeout activities, including punch list walks and final documentation.
