About The Position

The Project Engineer is responsible for successfully launching new products for Plastic Ingenuity's customers. As a key member of the commercial team, you will act as the liaison between the sales team and all other departments involved in launching a new product, including pricing, engineering, prototyping, tooling, quality, operations, and customer service. You will create and execute detailed project plans – using tools such as Gantt charts and RACI matrices – to ensure the timely and successful completion of projects in the pipeline, from initial design through commercial production and delivery. The focus of this role is to help manage a new product roll-out from prototype tool development through production tool handover to the process engineer and operations. Potential development pathways for this role include account management, technical sales, and operations. Up to 25% travel may be required.

Requirements

  • Four-year degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Strong, demonstrated project management skills.
  • Previous experience working in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills across all levels of the organization.
  • Must model the highest degree of moral and ethical behavior.

Nice To Haves

  • Project Management Professional certification or equivalent.
  • A background in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Prior experience working in new product development.

Responsibilities

  • Creating and executing detailed project plans for new product development – including Gantt charts and RACI matrices.
  • Capturing all relevant information pertaining to new projects.
  • Keeping all stakeholders informed on project status.
  • Delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • Identifying issues early – such as gaps in knowledge, unrealistic timelines, or cost overruns.
  • Assisting traveling salespeople with requests such as pricing, prototyping, drawings, etc.
  • Resolving operational problems and minimizing delays.
  • Identifying, developing, and gathering resources necessary to complete the project.
  • Ensuring data accuracy, security, required documentation, and regulatory compliance.
  • Working closely with sales, engineering, quality, and shop to ensure parts meet customer specifications.
