About The Position

French & Parrello Associates (FPA) is seeking a Project Engineer for our Structural Department in Wall, NJ. This role involves supporting the planning, design, and delivery of structural engineering projects across various sectors including commercial, institutional, industrial, and residential buildings. The engineer will assist in the design and analysis of structural systems using materials like steel, concrete, masonry, and wood. Key duties include preparing structural calculations, drawings, technical specifications, and other project documentation. The position requires coordination with other engineering disciplines, participation in project meetings, and support for construction administration activities such as reviewing shop drawings, responding to RFIs, and conducting field observations. Ensuring compliance with building codes and standards, maintaining project quality, and fostering client satisfaction are essential. The role also offers opportunities for mentorship and professional development, with increasing project responsibility over time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • 5 years of structural engineering experience in a consulting environment
  • PE license in NJ
  • Working knowledge of building codes and structural analysis/design software
  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment

Responsibilities

  • Support the planning, design, and delivery of structural engineering projects for commercial, institutional, industrial, and residential buildings.
  • Assist in the design and analysis of structural systems including steel, concrete, masonry, and wood.
  • Prepare structural calculations, drawings, technical specifications, and related documentation.
  • Coordinate structural designs with architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other disciplines.
  • Participate in project meetings and collaborate with senior engineers and project managers.
  • Support construction administration activities, including shop drawing review, RFIs, and field observations.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable building codes, standards, and project requirements.
  • Contribute to maintaining high-quality project delivery and client satisfaction.
  • Engage in mentorship and professional development opportunities, progressively taking on greater project responsibility.
