About The Position

Knife River is seeking a dependable Project Engineer Intern for a full-time summer internship during the college break. The position is based in the Missoula office and assists with takeoffs, estimates, and other project-related tasks. The intern must communicate professionally and promptly, both verbally and in writing, with people at all levels inside and outside the organization. Employment is subject to post-offer pre-employment drug testing and random testing during employment, as well as background checks.

Requirements

• Must be working toward a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management or a degree in Civil Engineering.
• Self-starter with a desire to learn and grow.
• Fluency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Outlook, Word, and Project.
• Must have a valid driver's license and a qualifying driving record under Company Policy.
• Must successfully pass a post-offer pre-employment drug test; random drug testing may occur throughout employment.
• Subject to background checks.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of Agtek or AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Assist estimators by preparing timely and accurate takeoffs for estimates.
• Solicit and negotiate with subcontractors in a challenging market.
• Analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to ensure estimates are complete.
• Consult with clients, vendors, and others to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
• Assist project managers and superintendents with project operations.
