About The Position

As a Project Engineer I, you will support the planning, coordination, and execution of the engineering aspects of product development projects. Your role will involve working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure timely delivery of project milestones, managing schedules, and assisting with technical matters. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals looking to grow their engineering careers by gaining hands-on experience in project management and technical coordination. The Mission Solutions and Technologies (MST) business area provides affordable, turn-key command/control, communications, integrated ISR, force protection and security solutions worldwide. The MST team has a long legacy of supporting the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, commercial and international customers with years of experience in platform operations, engineering and full lifecycle management across domains – air, land, sea, space and cyber.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • 8+ years' experience in engineering roles.
  • Knowledge of engineering principles and practice.
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development team.
  • Strong leadership skills and confidence to delegate tasking.
  • Basic understanding of requirements management, system design, and integration.
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance for employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Higher level relevant degree may substitute for experience.
  • 2-4 years relevant leadership and/or project management experience.
  • Familiarity with development and manufacture of electronics assemblies and systems.
  • Familiarity with project management software (e.g., MS Project, JIRA).
  • Experience leading a multi-disciplinary design and development team and communicating with program management and customers.
  • Familiarity with preparation and development of project estimates, technical proposals, and program cost and schedule management.
  • Past history of leading baseline definition and maturation in a complex development setting, including the use of highly integrated trade studies and analysis of alternative.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics, parts lists, specifications, instructions and test procedure.
  • Experience or certification in International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) standard.
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry.
  • Ability to Obtain & Maintain a Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance
  • Active Secret or Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead in developing and maintaining project plans, schedules, and budgets.
  • Iterate and revise these plans, schedules, and budgets during project execution to account for changes.
  • Support preparation of technical review artifacts (PDR, CDR, TIMs, weekly IPT reviews).
  • Plan for and enforce creation and formal release of Technical Documentation and Program Artifacts
  • Review and enforce Configuration Management of Program technical data (drawings, specifications, test plans, test reports, etc.)
  • Identify and document potential project risks and assist in developing mitigation plans.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and meeting minutes.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to solve problems of varying levels of complexity; from simple one week projects to multi-year development efforts.
