About The Position

Phihong is seeking a Power Electronics Engineer to join our team in Bohemia, NY. This role involves the analysis, modeling, simulation, design, and development of switch-mode power supplies (10W to 2000W). You will be responsible for the entire product lifecycle, from concept and circuit design through prototyping, testing, validation, and production. The position requires designing cost-effective, high-performance AC/DC power conversion circuits for next-generation products, including single-phase and polyphase, high-frequency, offline switch-mode converters and inverters for various applications like desktop computing, server, telecommunications, and motor drives. Optimization of designs for efficiency, power density, reliability, thermal performance, and cost is crucial. You will utilize tools like PSpice and Mathcad for simulations and calculations, conduct electrical testing and troubleshooting, evaluate component selection and circuit topologies, and collaborate with cross-functional teams. Technical documentation, support for prototype development, and staying current with industry advancements are also key aspects of this role. Travel may be required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Two or more years of experience in analog circuit design or power electronics development preferred; new graduates with relevant academic projects or technical experience are welcome to apply.
  • Knowledge of switch-mode power supplies, AC/DC conversion, power electronics, and analog circuit design principles.
  • Familiarity with circuit simulation and engineering calculation tools such as PSpice and Mathcad.
  • Understanding of electrical circuit analysis, power conversion topologies, component selection, and design validation methodologies.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document technical findings and communicate design concepts.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing project priorities in a product development environment.
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, model, simulate, design, and develop switch-mode power supplies ranging from 10W to 2000W, from initial concept and circuit design through prototyping, testing, validation, and production.
