About The Position

The Field Engineer is responsible for administrative tasks including time entry, work acknowledgments, updating job information in One-Note and SharePoint, and maintaining expense reports. They are also responsible for ensuring all equipment, including Robotic Total Stations, service vans, Surface Pros, data collectors, and hand tools, are maintained, clean, and in operable condition. In the field, the engineer's start time is dictated by customer needs, with a standard start no later than 8:00 AM. They must work safely and in compliance with Bimble - Modigent’s Safety Policies, utilizing a Trimble Tablet (T10) for job information. Responsibilities include setting up the Total Station, establishing accurate control, completing accurate layouts, and producing detailed as-builts. The Field Engineer is expected to lay out approximately 200 points per day. They will collaborate with the Bimble Office Tech to ensure job data is formatted correctly, identify and solve system layout problems, and work with customers to provide solutions. The role requires problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to supporting the team and the company's goals of employee happiness, customer satisfaction, and profitability. This includes looking out for colleagues, maintaining professionalism, offering solutions to complaints, and identifying new talent and job opportunities.

Requirements

  • Ability to enter time for approval each Monday by 10:00 AM.
  • Ability to complete and sign Work Acknowledgements before leaving each Job.
  • Ability to update One-Note with job pictures each day on site.
  • Ability to maintain proper folder structures and file names in SharePoint.
  • Ability to ensure all devices remain actively synced with SharePoint.
  • Ability to file and submit expense reports and receipts monthly.
  • Responsibility for ensuring equipment is maintained, clean, and in operable condition.
  • Responsibility for ensuring Robotic Total Stations are cleaned and calibrated annually.
  • Responsibility for ensuring the van is brought in for service according to the maintenance schedule.
  • Responsibility for maintaining the Surface Pro for daily operation.
  • Responsibility for maintaining the cellphone for daily operation.
  • Responsibility for maintaining and updating the data collector for daily operation.
  • Responsibility for maintaining all hand tools and surveying tools for daily use.
  • Ability to start work at a time dictated by customers’ needs, otherwise no later than 8:00 AM.

  • Ability to access job information from Trimble Tablet (T10).
  • Ability to set up Total Station for backsight or resection.
  • Ability to establish accurate control / setup on existing control.
  • Ability to spot check setup accuracy by hand measuring column lines and/or with reference shots.
  • Ability to complete accurate layout.
  • Ability to spot check layout with drawings and tape measure.
  • Ability to complete accurate and detailed as-builts when required.
  • Ability to work with Bimble Office Tech to ensure job data is formatted to Field Engineers Needs.
  • Ability to identify System Layout Problems & Offer Solutions.
  • Ability to coordinate and collaborate to ensure projects success.
  • Ability to work with Customer to provide solutions when they are not readily present in the layout data.
  • Must have the ability to “solve problems”.
