About The Position

RS&H is seeking a Project Engineer - Federal Construction Management to support the delivery of federal building and facility construction projects in Key West, Florida. As a member of the Federal Construction Management team, you will assist in the planning, coordination, documentation, and execution of complex construction projects while serving as a key liaison between federal clients, contractors, design teams, and project stakeholders. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with experience supporting federal construction projects, managing project documentation, and maintaining effective communication across project teams. The successful candidate will help ensure projects are delivered in accordance with contract requirements, quality standards, schedules, and client expectations.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management and relevant experience supporting construction projects.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
  • Be a U.S. Citizen as required by federal client and project requirements.
  • Direct experience managing project documentation, correspondence, and communication systems on construction projects.
  • Hands-on experience with construction management software such as eCMS, Kahua, Procore, or similar project management platforms.
  • Experience supporting federal, military, or secure facility construction projects.
  • Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and document management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while working effectively in a collaborative project environment.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with clients, contractors, consultants, and project team members.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting NAVFAC, USACE, DoD, U.S. Coast Guard, GSA, VA, DHS, or other federal agencies.
  • Experience working on military installations, secure facilities, SCIF environments, or other controlled-access federal facilities.
  • Familiarity with federal construction management processes, project controls, contract administration, quality management, and project documentation requirements.
  • Certified Construction Manager (CCM), Engineer Intern (EI), Project Management Professional (PMP).
  • Experience supporting commissioning, turnover, and project closeout activities for federal facilities projects.
  • Active Secret security clearance is preferred.
  • Candidates without an active clearance must be eligible to obtain and maintain any required federal background investigation, installation access credentials, or security clearances necessary to perform work on federal and military facilities.
  • Ability to successfully pass federal background screening and credentialing requirements as required by the client.

Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of federal building and facility construction projects from planning through closeout.
  • Manage project documentation, correspondence, reporting, records management, and communication systems.
  • Utilize construction management software, including eCMS, Kahua, Procore, or similar platforms, to manage project workflows and documentation.
  • Coordinate with federal clients, contractors, architects, engineers, and project stakeholders to support successful project execution.
  • Review schedules, submittmits, RFIs, change orders, meeting minutes, and project documentation for completeness and compliance.
  • Track project actions, deliverables, and project controls activities to support schedule and budget objectives.
  • Support quality assurance, contract administration, risk management, and construction compliance activities.
  • Prepare status reports, project correspondence, meeting documentation, and other project deliverables.
  • Support commissioning, turnover documentation, and project closeout activities.
  • Assist in resolving project issues and facilitating communication among project stakeholders.
