About The Position

PDG is seeking a Project Engineer to add to our growing and talented team. As the Project Engineer you will be leading and assisting on structural projects across New York State, be responsible for overseeing and mentoring junior staff on design projects, will serve as the primary point of contact with clients and be responsible for providing critical guidance to both internal and external project stakeholders, and be an integral part in shaping the growth and direction of the department.

Requirements

  • Experience with Bentley structural engineering analysis software such as STAAD Pro, RAM Elements, or similar.
  • Proven experience with Revit, AutoCAD, BIM, Mathcad, Bluebeam, spreadsheet tools, etc.
  • Proven interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with project team members and clients.
  • Proven organizational skills with the ability to work independently and prioritize as required.
  • Proven ability to progress technical concepts from inception through final design with minimum oversight on an array of structural analysis and design projects.
  • Proven ability to lead small design teams and prioritize multiple assignments with multiple disciplines.
  • Desire to learn and embrace technology to improve workflows and internal design process.
  • Ability and enthusiasm to work in a collaborative office setting.
  • Desire to embrace and adhere to the PDG Quality culture in all aspects of design including the ability to perform independent design review and provide design peer reviews to ensure quality measurements are met.
  • Understand basic safety requirements and motivation to uphold PDG safety culture.
  • NYS PE Licensed Required
  • A Valid Driver's License and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) is required.

Nice To Haves

  • CPESC, LEED AP, and/or ENV SP certification a plus.
  • Experience with K-12, Higher Ed, Healthcare, and State and local municipality projects

Responsibilities

  • Independently develop and/or oversee the development of structural analysis models and calculation packages to support the structural design of various structure types.
  • Delegate and/or assign design tasks to junior staff to support the structural design of various structure types.
  • Oversee and assist in the preparation of comprehensive drawing packages using Revit, AutoCAD, BIM, etc.
  • Oversee and assist in the development and review of technical engineering documents, design plans, specifications, reports, and cost estimates.
  • Perform technical and quality reviews of engineering work by others in accordance with company, industry, and/or client design standards.
  • Coordinate with internal or external project staff, clients and governmental agencies to fulfill the needs of the project and acquire all necessary approvals.
  • Serve as the Engineer of Record for designs performed under ones direct supervision.
  • May be required to travel within New York State for project design investigations and/or construction support oversight.
