Project Delivery Lead - Electrical

AmerescoCharlotte, NC

About The Position

Ameresco, Inc. is a leading energy solutions provider focused on helping customers reduce costs, enhance resilience, and decarbonize to net zero. We are a trusted partner to public sector, government entities, K-12 schools, higher education, utilities, and healthcare customers across the U.S., Canada, the U.K., and Europe. Ameresco develops, constructs, and operates tailored smart energy efficiency solutions, distributed energy resources, and infrastructure upgrades. The Delivery Lead supports the development, construction, commissioning, and operation of Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) and power generation projects. This role acts as the technical and execution bridge between electrical design engineering, field construction teams, commissioning and operations personnel, equipment suppliers, and other engineering disciplines. The position ensures electrical systems are designed and procured with full consideration of constructability, operability, maintainability, and commissioning requirements. The role emphasizes practical execution, early issue identification, and continuous improvement of engineering-to-field processes for safe, reliable, and cost-effective project delivery.

Requirements

  • Technical School, associate degree or equivalent years of relevant experience in electrical or technical fields.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of combined experience in project management and leading large industrial electrical projects.
  • Strong practical knowledge of electrical power systems, equipment, and installation practices applicable to RNG and power generation projects.
  • Proven ability to work effectively across engineering, construction, commissioning, and operations teams.
  • Working knowledge of applicable electrical codes, standards, and safety requirements (e.g., NEC, NFPA, IEEE, IEC as applicable).
  • Experience supporting or managing electrical equipment procurement, vendor coordination, and technical submittal reviews.

Nice To Haves

  • RNG, biogas, landfill gas, or other energy-from-waste facilities.
  • Power generation projects including reciprocating engines, turbines, or generator installations.
  • Onsite electrical construction or commissioning roles.
  • Brownfield projects, retrofits, or expansions of operating facilities.
  • Medium-voltage and low-voltage power systems, generators, substations, and industrial controls.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary integration point between electrical design engineering, construction, commissioning, operations, procurement, and other disciplines (Mechanical, I&C, Civil, Process).
  • Translate design intent into field-ready execution plans appropriate for RNG facilities and power generation sites.
  • Ensure alignment between electrical design, installation sequencing, startup requirements, and long-term operational needs.
  • Participate in inter-discipline coordination reviews, site walkdowns, and execution planning meetings.
  • Lead constructability, operability, and maintainability reviews of electrical designs across all project phases.
  • Evaluate designs for RNG and power generation applications including: Electrical power distribution, MCCs, switchgear, generators, and substations; Hazardous area classifications and code compliance; Equipment access, maintenance clearances, and future expansions; Installation sequencing, temporary power, and field work constraints.
  • Incorporate construction and commissioning feedback into design improvements and standards.
  • Track and drive closure of constructability findings with engineering teams.
  • Support and manage electrical equipment procurement activities for RNG plants and power generation assets.
  • Develop and review technical specifications for major electrical equipment (e.g., switchgear, transformers, generators, MCCs, UPS, VFDs).
  • Coordinate vendor data reviews, technical clarifications, and equipment interfaces with engineering and construction.
  • Support FATs, delivery planning, and site acceptance activities to ensure equipment is buildable and commissionable.
  • Identify long-lead equipment risks and support schedule mitigation strategies.
  • Provide technical guidance and issue resolution during electrical installation, construction, and commissioning activities.
  • Support commissioning planning, energization sequencing, testing procedures, and turnover documentation.
  • Assist in resolving field changes, RFIs, and unexpected conditions while maintaining safety and design integrity.
  • Support transition from commissioning to operations, ensuring electrical systems meet operational expectations for reliability and maintainability.
  • Develop and improve standardized processes for engineering handoff, constructability reviews, procurement coordination, and field support.
  • Capture lessons learned from RNG and power generation projects and integrate them into design standards and execution practices.
  • Create checklists, templates, and workflows that improve consistency and reduce rework across projects.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive and competitive employee benefits, including people-oriented insurance, investment, and incentive plans.
