About The Position

Manages and controls project costs by conducting cost and variance analyses throughout the project lifecycle while partnering with project teams to forecast, evaluate, and document costs and explain variances to ensure projects stay within budget and meet established standards. Monitors project costs across the different projects, ensuring budget adherence and financial accuracy. Prepares periodic variance analysis reports to track project performance progress, identify variances, and support informed decision-making. Analyzes cost trends and forecasts to support project teams with actionable insights, contributing to proactive budget management. Identifies process inefficiencies impacting projects cost and develops corrective strategies, improving cost control reliability and consistency. Applies industry best practices to internal cost control standards, enhancing reporting quality and team alignment. Follows established company policies, procedures, and standards to ensure full compliance with applicable laws and industry regulations. Participates in storm restoration tasks and assigned drills to contribute to the safe and reliable recovery of services. Performs additional tasks aligned with role expectations and qualifications to support team goals and operational flexibility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related field from an accredited university.
  • 3 years of experience in project accounting, cost monitoring, or cost control, preferably within a regulated utility or EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) environment.
  • Associate’s degree in a relevant field may substitute when accompanied by a minimum of 5 years of experience in project cost control.
  • Experience with Earned Value Management and Analysis in Project Cost and Progress Monitoring is preferred.
  • Solid understanding of project lifecycle cost management, cost‑control methodologies, earned value principles, and the integration of scope and cost.
  • Highly organized, with strong time‑management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in fast‑paced, multi‑project or portfolio environments.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and documentation quality.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with experience working across cross‑functional teams such as engineering, procurement, and construction.
  • Experience in utility, infrastructure, or capital program environments, with preferred familiarity with FEMA or federally funded project requirements.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel, Power BI, and other project‑related financial tools.
  • Strong analytical capabilities, including cost variance analysis, trend evaluation, progress assessment, and translating data into meaningful insights.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Cost Technician (CCT) is preferred.
