About The Position

Aecon Nuclear's portfolio includes building, refurbishing, maintaining, and decommissioning nuclear power facilities. Aecon supports clients with expert project management. Aecon Nuclear, in partnership with Atkins Realis, has been awarded a contract with Ontario Power Generation (OPG) for the definition phase of the Pickering Retube, Feeder and Boiler replacement (RFBR) project. This project involves refurbishing four reactors and replacing forty-eight steam generators at the Pickering Nuclear Generating Station. The Project Coordinator is responsible for directing, coordinating, and exercising functional authority for the planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of engineering and construction requirements within the scope of a specified project. Reporting to the Project Manager, the Project Coordinator will provide leadership in managing/supervising construction projects by assisting with project management and coordination of schedules, manpower, customer relations, engineering, and procurement. Daily tasks include risk analysis, project forecasting, and liaising with EPC and subcontractors.

Requirements

  • Technical (Engineering or Engineering Technology) education.
  • 5+ years of engineering and/or construction project experience.
  • Proficient written (report writing) communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills in communicating with a large team.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of SharePoint applications an asset.
  • Preference will be given to those with nuclear outage planning experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead by example to ensure a “ONE TEAM” Project-First, collaborative approach for internal, external, cross-JV and client-facing interactions.
  • Demonstrates strong nuclear safety culture. Maintains such a culture using event free tools and technical conscience. Assists and monitors safety programs and statistics as required.
  • Support the Project Manager in creating and sharing the vision of project success with the team.
  • Plans and implements an engineering and construction program, including defining the project plan, activities, milestones, and manpower requirements.
  • Develops and maintains the project schedule and budget for the engineering and construction segments of the project.
  • Provides status report of project milestones and adjustment to schedules.
  • Controls expenditures within limitations of project budget.
  • Identifies project manpower requirements and coordinates manpower with appropriate trades and subcontractors.
  • Maintains meeting minutes.
  • Identifies risks to Risk Manager and identifies actions for entering the action tracking log.
  • Coordinates preparation and delivery of project deliverables, design documents, as built drawings, turnover documents, etc.
  • Reviews project design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements and related specifications.
  • Coordinates activities relating to technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems.
  • Interfaces with customers to provide project status reports and ensures customer needs are met.
  • Provides status and progress reports to customer, project team, and management.
  • Assists and monitors safety programs and statistics as required.
  • Writes and reviews purchase specifications and subcontract documents.
  • Active involvement in quality assurance with regards to understanding and implementing policies and procedures.
  • Tracking and expediting internal and external deliverables as part of the contract.
  • Provide frequent, informal performance feedback to SGR team members, and formal feedback according to home office company policy. Endeavor the feedback to be in person wherever possible.
