About The Position

The PFS Coordinator functions as a member of the Prevention Department. The Project Coordinator will dedicate their full-time position to coordinating the Partnerships for Success underage drinking prevention work in the communities of Southbury and Thomaston. This will include developing Local Prevention Councils, expanding capacity, implementing prevention initiatives, attending conferences and trainings, and other relevant activities. and partnering with coalition leadership to implement the Strategic Prevention Framework. Full-time/Non-Exempt Pay Range begins at $24.00/hour Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8am - 4pm with flexible hours required (occasional weekends and evenings)

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in social work, public health, or related field and one year of experience implementing prevention or related public health programs, or two years’ experience implementing relevant prevention or public health programs.
  • CPS Certification required within 18 months of hire.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively implement prevention initiatives with diverse populations in a culturally responsive and respectful manner.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills, attention to detail, and time management skills.
  • Strong computer and organizational skills with the ability to function in a team environment and in collaboration with schools, law enforcement, and other community leaders.
  • Flexible schedule and local travel required.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, recruit, support, inform, and retain Local Prevention Council membership in Southbury and Thomaston.
  • Monitor of grant-funded prevention projects implemented by coalition members.
  • Plan and implement regular coalition meetings and trainings.
  • Facilitate coalitions and apply understanding of environmental prevention strategies.
  • Develop and expand the capacity of Local Prevention Councils in Southbury and Thomaston to implement underage drinking prevention initiatives.
  • Coordinate data collection efforts in partnership with Local Evaluator.
  • Establish Strategic Prevention Framework implementation within Southbury and Thomaston.
  • Develop and widely disseminate a social media messaging campaign to educate youth and parents on the dangers of underage drinking.
  • Provide training and engagement sessions for parents, teachers, and families.
  • Implement small group educational sessions in middle and high school populations.
  • Manage grant budget and spending.
  • Complete timely reporting to DMHAS and federal partners.
  • Attendance at and participation in DMHAS Grantee meetings and national prevention conferences.
