About The Position

First Star Safety is a woman-owned traffic control, pavement marking, and roadway safety contractor serving Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana. Since 2006, we have partnered with public agencies, contractors, utilities, and private organizations to improve safety and mobility on roadways throughout the region. Our services include Maintenance of Traffic (MOT), traffic control planning and implementation, pavement markings, temporary traffic control devices, equipment rentals, and roadway safety solutions supporting everything from local roadway improvements to major interstate and infrastructure projects.

Requirements

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly: Excel, Outlook, Word

  • Ability to learn software systems quickly

  • Experience in construction, transportation, logistics, project coordination, operations, or related industries
  • Familiarity with DOT regulations and compliance requirements
  • Experience reading construction plans or engineering drawings
  • Experience with project management, scheduling, estimating, or fleet administration
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Business, Logistics, Engineering, Operations, or a related field

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate project setup and maintenance within ComputerEase Cloud
  • Maintain project tracking logs and documentation
  • Review contracts, plans, specifications, and project requirements
  • Support project managers, estimators, and operations teams
  • Assist with project closeout documentation and customer deliverables
  • Ensure project records remain accurate and complete
  • Submit and manage Ohio Utilities Protection Service (OUPS) requests
  • Submit and manage Kentucky 811 locate requests
  • Track utility clearance status and project timelines
  • Coordinate utility-related requirements with project teams
  • Ensure compliance with utility notification requirements
  • Develop and modify traffic control plans using industry software
  • Prepare traffic pattern drawings and work zone layouts
  • Design lane closures, tapers, sign placement, drum placement, and work zone configurations
  • Support Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) planning activities
  • Learn and apply MUTCD standards and best practices
  • Assist with quantity takeoffs and bid preparation
  • Review plans and specifications
  • Support project estimates for traffic control and pavement marking operations
  • Research project requirements and contract provisions
  • Assist with proposal preparation and bid submissions
  • Assist with fleet record management
  • Track vehicle registrations, inspections, and licensing requirements
  • Monitor DOT compliance records and documentation
  • Support driver qualification file administration
  • Assist with maintenance tracking and fleet reporting
  • Coordinate compliance-related documentation with operations and safety teams
  • Assist with project billing and invoicing
  • Support job costing activities
  • Maintain project financial records
  • Coordinate project setup information between accounting and operations
  • Assist with reporting and documentation requests
