Requirements

  • A minimum of a Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Community Development, Social Sciences, or Business Administration, with course(s) in research methodology and/or project management or similar
  • A minimum of five years of experience is required, preferably working in the Information Technology sector or with advanced technologies for positions working with industry partners/clients, particularly within a database/software development or advanced technology adoption environment
  • Sound knowledge of research design and methodology is required.
  • Required skills include: advanced skills utilizing project management software, Microsoft Office applications, strong critical thinking, attention-to-detail, judgment, interpersonal, organizational, planning, time management and prioritization skills and the ability to coordinate multiple project deadlines and scheduling of resources; demonstrated strong business acumen and excellent written and verbal communication skills; effective communication skills to collaborate with multiple stakeholders at all levels of the College, identifying needs and providing ongoing support; must maintain strict confidentiality while coordinating tasks in all stages of the project lifecycle; ability to be proactive and take initiative, as well as identify and resolve issues.
  • The incumbent must possess the ability to work independently and as a team member, and maintain appropriate service standards for external partners.
  • Must possess a valid Ontario Class "G" driver's license and regular access to a vehicle.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in intellectual property management, technology transfer, contract negotiation, technology development, and commercialization are strong assets.

Responsibilities

  • Provide project documentation and administrative coordination for a wide range of AR projects from start to finish, including but not limited to, preparing project agreements, non-disclosure agreements, amending agreements, entering contract and memo requests for research team hiring, and other critical paperwork, as required.
  • Organizing and attending project meetings as well as scheduling regular progress meetings to review project status, timelines, budgets, and challenges; passing on concerns to the Senior Manager and/or Operations Manager.
  • Provide guidance and support to teams to implement sound, ethical, and rigorous research plans and practices.
  • Assist project teams with documentation requirements, including in-kind contributions, receipts, and other project reports.
  • Monitor and report on progress against established milestones utilizing sound project management principles.
  • Conducting project close-out meetings to ensure a satisfactory conclusion for every project, addressing issues pertaining to intellectual property, ownership of prototypes and the like; facilitating the execution of a Sign-Off Agreement to formally document the project’s close-out
  • Collaborating and consulting with the Operations Manager on complex matters.
  • Maintaining appropriate service standards for external partners/clients.
  • Preparing regular reports as may be required by funders.
  • Supporting promotional activities such as website content management, social media campaigns, creation of a monthly e-bulletin, annual report, and the coordination of these activities with applied research partners.
  • Event planning and coordination, including administration and backend support for events.
  • Unlock ORSIE’s main-office doors in the morning and lock these doors at the end of the day in coordination with the facilities department
  • Point of contact for ORSIE visitors, providing information, directions and/or contacting those employees who have guests, as required.
  • Responding to health and safety related concerns in a timely fashion.
  • Responsible for picking up and delivering incoming/outgoing mail to/from the College’s main mailroom
