About The Position

Mitsubishi Power Americas, Inc. is seeking a Project Controls Manager to lead a team of project control professionals. This role involves developing, maintaining, and analyzing integrated EPC schedules using Primavera P6, managing project cost control with Primavera Unifier, and applying Earned Value Management (EVM) principles. The position requires driving variance analysis, change management, and forecasting to identify risks and opportunities. The Project Controls Manager will oversee cost control processes, evaluate construction impacts, and develop automated reporting solutions using Power BI and Power Automate. Collaboration with supply chain, engineering, and construction teams is crucial for optimizing schedules and costs. Hands-on knowledge of combustion turbine and combined-cycle construction sequences is necessary to validate contractor progress and ensure realistic execution plans. The role also emphasizes fostering a culture of collaboration and ensuring compliance with contract requirements and safety standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in Engineering or a related field
  • 2 years of experience working with OEM, engineering, procurement oil and gas, or construction (EPC), or related experience.
  • Experience with SAP
  • Experience creating dashboards and visuals using Power BI or Power query
  • Experience creating functions and drawing relationships between multiple reports using DAX language
  • Experience with Cost and value engineering projects (such as cost-structure analysis or bottom-up cost calculation) and improvements of the costs
  • Experience with Engineering specifications, Piping and Instrumentation Drawings (P&ID) for material quantity take offs for estimating purposes
  • Experience with Data analytics and programming tools such as Python, SQL, Dax, and Power BI
  • Experience with Scheduling tools such as Microsoft project, Smarsheet or P6

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of project control professionals, including planners, schedulers, cost analysts, risk specialists, and reporting leads, providing coaching, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities.
  • Develop, maintain, and analyze integrated EPC schedules in Primavera P6, ensuring alignment across engineering, procurement, manufacturing, logistics, construction, and commissioning activities.
  • Manage and configure Primavera P6 Team Member (timesheets) for labor hour tracking and field progress reporting, including setting up activity assignments, validating actual hours, and integrating timesheet data into earned value reporting.
  • Administer and integrate Primavera Unifier for project cost control, contract management, and change order tracking, ensuring seamless data flow between scheduling, cost, and procurement systems.
  • Apply Earned Value Management (EVM) to track cost and schedule performance, forecast trends, and communicate SPI/CPI metrics to senior leadership and stakeholders.
  • Drive variance analysis, change management, and forecasting to proactively identify risks and recovery opportunities.
  • Oversee cost control processes, from baseline establishment to final cost reporting, ensuring integration with contractual and commercial frameworks.
  • Leverage OEM and/or EPC experience to evaluate construction impacts, assess supplier performance, and support claims through time impact analysis and detailed schedule narratives.
  • Develop and deploy automated Power BI dashboards and Power Automate workflows to deliver scheduled report distributions, trigger notifications based on project performance thresholds, and integrate data from SAP, Unifier, InEight, and other systems.
  • Coordinate closely with supply chain, engineering, and construction teams to optimize procurement schedules, reduce logistics costs, and improve on-time delivery performance.
  • Apply hands-on knowledge of combustion turbine and combined-cycle construction sequences to validate contractor progress, anticipate delays, and ensure execution plans are realistic and achievable.
  • Champion a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the Project Controls team.
  • Ensure strict compliance with contract requirements, internal SOPs, and safety standards in all project controls activities.
