About The Position

The Spear Group, LLC is seeking a Project Controls Cost Engineer to provide preconstruction support, manage project budgets and financial reporting, and analyze project performance. This role involves extensive use of project management software and close collaboration with internal teams and external vendors to ensure accurate financial tracking and reporting for projects ranging from $5M to $900M.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related finance, science, technology, or engineering field required.
  • Project Management Professional and OSHA 30 certifications required.
  • One year of experience in job offered or related position in cost control and project management required.
  • Experience with the pharmaceutical industry across multiple product types.
  • Experience with Microsoft Project.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with SAP.
  • Experience with PIMS.
  • Experience with Power BI.
  • Experience with Primavera P6.
  • Experience with Primavera P3.
  • Must have legal authority to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Provide preconstruction support during project approval phase.
  • Provide historical cost data and assist in development of annual contractor purchase orders.
  • Manage internal project budget/schedule of values within project management software for monthly financial reporting on multiple projects.
  • Manage external project budget and communications within external project management software including commitment management, change management, and document control.
  • Manage monthly forecasts and cash flows, understand forecast variances, and develop monthly executive reports.
  • Prepare performance/productivity reports and variance analysis as required to explain difference between budget, actual, and forecasted expenditures.
  • Be responsible for accurate monthly accrual reporting for all existing PO’s on assigned projects, including communication with vendors and finances.
  • Facilitate change order routing and review processes with project management software, content analysis, and executive approval as required.
  • Review project financial health with management team each month via dashboards, Excel sheets, schedule comparison, and productivity reports.
  • Work closely with Site Scheduler to compare financial forecasts and risks in alignment with schedule updates.
  • Maintain TVD Log, Change Log, and Risk Log to capture any upcoming changes or risks affecting project budget and timeline.
  • Track hours for all vendors and in house personnels to create database for future projects.
  • Be responsible for producing cost reports for projects ranging from $5M to $900M for client.
