About The Position

This position is with our internal construction and development team, reporting to the Meruelo Group VP of Construction, (and not with our separate construction company (Meruelo Enterprises Inc.) which provides services to third party customers). This team is responsible for internal construction and development projects including a new arena in Reno, CapEx improvements at our related businesses, and owned real estate developments. We are seeking a detail‑oriented Project Controls Coordinator to support our internal construction and development team with a strong focus on project financial controls, cost tracking, and contractor billings. This role works closely with the GC, Accounting, and internal stakeholders to monitor project costs, review billings, and support the overall financial health of development projects.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in construction project coordination or similar role.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, terminology, and documentation.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in project management software (Procore, MS Project, or similar).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 products (Word, Excel, Powerpoint).
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Trimble Viewpoint/Spectrum software a huge plus.

Responsibilities

  • Track project budgets, committed costs, and actuals; assist with forecasts and variance reporting
  • Review contractor pay applications for accuracy, schedule of values, lien releases, and insurance compliance
  • Maintain change order logs and support cost impact tracking
  • Assist with owner billings, draw requests, and intercompany billings
  • Partner with Accounting on job cost reporting and audit readine
  • Coordinate financial and cost-related information between the GC, Accounting, and internal teams
  • Maintain organized project cost files and documentation
  • Prepare reports, meeting minutes, and summaries related to project status and financials
