About The Position

The Project Controller works at the intersection of project delivery, financial performance, and resource planning. The role helps leaders understand project status, resource needs, and potential adjustments required to achieve successful outcomes. Responsibilities include financial performance reporting and forecasting and aligning human capital with project priorities to help teams deliver effectively. The position is part of NiSource’s Enterprise Security organization, which protects the company’s people, assets, data, and critical infrastructure and supports operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and long-term business objectives. This is a permanent, full-time hybrid role based in Columbus, Ohio, with three days on location. Employees may be called on to support emergency response efforts, including outside normal hours or in tasks beyond typical responsibilities.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
Foundational understanding of contracts.
At least 3 years of experience in a similar role, such as Project Controller, Financial Analyst, or Project Cost Analyst.
At least 3 years of experience using tools and techniques for requirements elicitation, analysis, documentation, validation, and management.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and must not require employer sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences using presentations, reports, diagrams, and user stories.
Apply problem-solving and analytical thinking to troubleshoot issues, resolve conflicts, and propose solutions.
Develop a deep understanding of the application domain, including business processes, data flows, systems architecture, and integration points.
Assess the business impact of IT risks and issues and escalate them as needed to ensure timely resolution and minimize disruption.
Use business, budgeting, and financial acumen to analyze and communicate trends.
Understand and comply with contractual obligations and service level agreements (SLAs) of service providers and business partners.
Identify and propose continuous improvement opportunities.
Measure and monitor the performance, quality, and value of IT services and solutions using metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs).
Support financial performance reporting and forecasting and help align human capital with project priorities.
Support emergency response efforts when required, potentially outside normal working hours or beyond typical responsibilities.
