About The Position

H2M architects + engineers, a multidiscipline architectural, engineering, environmental consulting firm in Melville, NY seeks Project Engineer to join our Civil Engineering Department. This role involves the design and coordination of work on multidiscipline projects, ranging from due diligence and site feasibility studies to site engineering, regulatory approvals, and full permitting. The engineer will develop site layouts and designs, including site grading and storm drainage, roadway design, water and sewer infrastructure, and erosion and sediment control. Responsibilities also include preparing hydrology and hydraulic calculations, understanding NYSDEC stormwater management and SWPPP requirements, and performing project administration tasks such as writing reports, gathering information, preparing proposals and correspondence, tracking project costs, and completing progress reports. The role requires preparing engineer's opinions of probable costs for designed projects and specifications for public bids, coordinating with other internal departments, and communicating directly with clients. The Project Engineer will be responsible for the on-time, on-budget, high-quality technical delivery of all project requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or closely related discipline.
• Strong AutoCAD/Civil 3D skills, Autoturn, Excel, and Photoshop.
• 5 - 10 years related experience.
• Design experience with a specific focus on site development or municipal engineering projects.
• Thorough understanding of the entitlement processes on Long Island.
• Knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices of related technical areas.
• Familiarity with the design of public infrastructure and public bidding process.
• Self-motivated, capable of working independently or within project teams.
• Team-spirited, focused and able to make independent decisions.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.

• EIT/PE desired.

Responsibilities

Benefits

• The salary range for this role is $80,000 - $120,000 annually.
