About The Position

The University of Southern California (USC) Leonard Davis School of Gerontology's Emotion & Cognition Lab is seeking a Project Assistant for a 1-year fixed-term position. This role involves supporting research on the effects of heart rate biofeedback on emotion and cognition. The Project Assistant will be responsible for administering MRI scan sessions, procuring and processing blood samples, managing participant recruitment, and other related tasks. The ideal candidate will be reliable, professional, a problem solver, possess excellent organizational skills, and work well in a team. This position is suitable for individuals interested in a research career or future Ph.D. studies.

Requirements

  • Minimum Education: High school or equivalent
  • Minimum Experience: 1 year
  • Knowledge of data collection procedures
  • Combined experience/education as a substitute for minimum education.

Nice To Haves

  • Current CPT license and phlebotomy experience or ability to receive certification. (Highly Preferred)
  • Two or more years of relevant experience.
  • Experience working with older adult populations.
  • Previous experience with recruitment and community outreach for research studies.
  • Bachelor’s degree particularly in social sciences, psychology, neuroscience, or related area.

Responsibilities

  • Administer MRI scan sessions.
  • Procure and process blood samples from participants.
  • Follow protocols for handling and transporting specimens.
  • Actively recruit participants, through outreach efforts, initial contact, screening, and scheduling.
  • Maintain data on recruitment activities.
  • Assist with updating the study schedule.
  • Assist with coordinating logistics for effective study management.
  • Assist with data tracking and organization.
  • Assist with preparing and maintaining research devices.
  • Recruit and schedule research assistants.
  • Calculate participant compensation.
  • Assist with generating reports and other study documentation as needed.
