Talent Search Project Advisor
About The Position
The Project Advisor assists with the administration, implementation, and continuation of the U.S. Department of Education-funded Talent Search / TRIO project. The project prepares middle and high school students in the greater Southwest Virginia region to pursue post-secondary education. It serves students who meet income-eligibility guidelines, are potential first-generation college students, and/or need assistance with the college enrollment process. The project serves 891 middle and high school students across 11 school districts, as well as veterans and adults who have stopped out of college. The position is based on campus in Blacksburg and reports to the Assistant Director of Talent Search programs.
Requirements
- Master's degree in education, counseling, social work, or a related area.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Experience working with diverse groups of high school students.
- Experience working for educational programs that address the needs of income-eligible, potential first-generation college students, and/or people needing other assistance.
Nice To Haves
- Experience working with TRiO programs.
- Former participation in a TRiO program.
