About The Position

HazTek is seeking an experienced Project Accounting and Audit Specialist to provide financial oversight and audit support for a large-scale construction project. This is a long-term opportunity expected to continue through 2029. The role involves monitoring project budgets, commitments, forecasts, purchase orders, invoices, and expenditures. Responsibilities include reviewing contractor invoices and pay applications for accuracy, contractual compliance, retainage, stored materials, and supporting documentation. The specialist will coordinate with project and field personnel to validate billed work and reported progress, audit contracts, change orders, vendor commitments, invoices, and other project financial records. Additionally, the role requires preparing cost reports, variance analyses, cash-flow forecasts, and financial summaries, as well as researching billing discrepancies and supporting project reconciliation and financial closeout. Maintaining accurate, organized, and auditable project documentation is crucial.

Requirements

  • Experience in construction project accounting, project controls, cost management, or contract auditing
  • Knowledge of contractor pay applications, change orders, commitments, retainage, and project forecasting
  • Strong analytical, reconciliation, organization, and communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and project accounting or ERP systems
  • Experience supporting major construction, capital, EPC, or mission-critical projects

Nice To Haves

  • Data center construction experience preferred
