You will track capital expenditures and construction in progress across our facility build-outs, manage project cost reporting, and own the capitalization of assets as projects are placed in service. The ideal candidate has done project or construction accounting in a capital-intensive environment, understands what auditors and government sponsors expect from cost documentation, and is comfortable working directly with project managers and engineers.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CPA-track preferred.
3+ years of project, construction, or capital accounting experience.
Working knowledge of GAAP capitalization rules for property, plant, and equipment.
Experience with government-funded programs, grants, or cost-reimbursable contracts strongly preferred; familiarity with 2 CFR 200 (Uniform Guidance) is a plus.
Experience with an ERP system; NetSuite experience is a plus.
Strong Excel skills and comfort working with large project cost datasets.
Ability to work directly with non-finance project stakeholders and hold them to documentation standards.
Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

Track capital expenditures by project; maintain construction in progress (CIP) schedules and monitor budget-to-actual spend.
Determine appropriate capitalization treatment under GAAP; place assets in service and establish depreciation on completion.
Maintain the fixed asset register for project-related assets, including additions, transfers, disposals, and impairment considerations.
Own accounting and cost tracking for government-funded programs and grants, including allowability, allocation, and documentation requirements.
Prepare project cost reporting and drawdown or invoicing submissions for sponsors and funding agencies.
Execute project-related close activities, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
Prepare project and grant audit schedules; support sponsor and single audit requirements.
Work directly with project managers, engineering, and procurement to ensure project costs are captured accurately and on time.
