About The Position

Pepper Construction is a national general contracting and construction management firm serving primarily the private sector, with offices in Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, and Ohio. The Project Accountant supports project success through financial management, collaboration, and attention to detail. This role prepares accurate, timely owner billings and ensures job costs are processed in accordance with contractual requirements and company internal controls. The Project Accountant works closely with project teams to maintain financial accuracy and accountability and contribute to successful project outcomes.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in a business-related field.
Prior billing experience.
Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Proficiency in accounting software.

Nice To Haves

Three years of accounting-related experience is preferred.
CMiC experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

Review owner contracts and identify billing requirements.
Analyze and process job-related costs in accordance with internal control procedures.
Coordinate billing with project teams, prepare timely billings, and reconcile job costs to monthly billings.
Identify and communicate unbilled or late-billed costs.
Coordinate timely subcontractor payments in exchange for waivers.
Review and compile waiver packages.
Facilitate job closeout, prepare final financial performance documents, and reconcile project profit and loss.
Monitor subcontractor insurance compliance.
Understand the impact of cash flow on project performance.
