About The Position

Balfour Beatty is seeking a Project Accountant Supervisor to join our team in Dallas, TX. The Project Accountant Supervisor is responsible for managing staffing needs, fostering professional development, ensuring compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and improving accounting practices. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative leader with strong organizational and mentoring skills, as well as a deep understanding of project accounting systems and practices.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in managing and developing others.
  • Strong knowledge of project accounting principles, systems, and compliance standards.
  • Proficiency in project accounting software such as Procore, Textura, JDE and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to assess and improve operational processes for greater efficiency.
  • Flexibility to travel periodically to meet business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, support, coach, and mentor a team of Project Accountants.
  • Identify professional development opportunities and conduct periodic training sessions to enhance skills and foster open communication.
  • Lead the onboarding process for new Project Accountants to ensure smooth transitions into their roles.
  • Organize and coordinate annual Project Accountant meetings featuring internal and external guest speakers, skill-building workshops, SOP reinforcement, and team-building activities.
  • Conduct annual performance evaluations for Project Accountants, providing constructive feedback and setting development goals.
  • Evaluate and manage current and future staffing needs for active and upcoming projects.
  • Track individual workloads and maintain a timeline of project assignments to forecast staffing needs.
  • Collaborate with Business Unit Leaders (BULs) to communicate staffing requirements and resolve resource challenges.
  • Participate in staffing meetings to align team resources with project demands.
  • Lead recruitment, interviewing, and hiring efforts in collaboration with Human Resources and Division Finance.
  • Perform regular audits of Project Accountants' work to ensure compliance with SOP and project administration requirements.
  • Conduct job site visits to evaluate procedures, foster strong team relationships, and identify strengths and areas for improvement.
  • Review, refine and document processes to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of all project requirements, including owner expectations and reporting standards from a project accounting perspective.
  • Stay proficient with relevant accounting software and technology, including but not limited to Procore, Textura, JDE, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Lead efforts to evaluate and adopt new tools or practices to improve performance and compliance.
  • Perform primary accounting and administrative support for construction projects from start up through final closeout. Includes project accounting, subcontractor management and administration.
  • Serves as the liaison between the job site and the Division Finance, ensuring all accounting standard operating procedures are followed at the job site.
  • Performs activities related to contracts, bonds, insurance, payables, liens, billings, payroll/cost/budget reports for the job site management team.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties, special projects and analysis as directed by Division Finance.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by supporting project teams in collaboration with Project Accountants.
