About The Position

At Fugro, Finance is a global business function that enables the company to make sound business decisions, manage financial performance, and support long-term growth. It is not one of Fugro's three operational business lines (Marine Site Characterisation, Marine Asset Integrity, and Land); instead, it is a core support function that works across all business lines and regions. The Project Accountant supports the Financial Controllers and Business/Service Line Directors with Finance Business Partnering and project control for the entity/business. Delivers meaningful, accurate and timely management reporting & analysis on project/business performance and supports execution of financial planning. Point of contact for questions on project financial performance and business analysis.

Requirements

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without restrictions.
  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is required.
  • Have 2 years or more experience (general ledger accounting, POC accounting, cost accruals, project review/analysis)
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Be able to travel as required.
  • Able to meet deadlines.
  • Able to work while under pressure.

Responsibilities

  • Provides accurate and timely accounting, reporting and project control for assigned projects
  • Analyzes cost reports and meets frequently with the Business Partner and Project Managers to review status of projects for invoicing, WIP, cost, profitability and cash flow.
  • Directly responsible for monthly close cycle for assigned business segment: project review, cost accruals, margin analysis, income statement review/adjustments, along with project/segment reports.
  • Prepares projects/segment monthly income statement
  • Sets up and maintains projects on an in-house accounting system according to contract terms.
  • Reviews project contracts and additional service requests to understand the financial requirements for each project.
  • Tracks and inputs budget/cost/revenue data for assigned projects.
  • Ensures that projects are reasonable and recognize revenue using the POC method per IFRS standards
  • Codes vendor A/P invoices for assigned service lines
  • Answers project inquiries from staff, vendors or clients, and communicates financial information to project managers and other stakeholders
  • Assists in preparation of annual service line budget
  • Maintains digital project accounting files.
