HI-Progressive Care RN - Varied Shift (10/19)
About The Position
This is a Progressive Care Unit position with 15 beds, functioning as 3 step-down ICU beds and 12 telemetry beds. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4 for Progressive Care and 1:3 for Step-down ICU. The assignment requires 36 scheduled hours per week following the first week of orientation, with no guarantee of hours. There is no on-call requirement. Primary nursing care, telemetry monitoring, telemetry strip reading, and fingerstick blood sugar checks are key duties. Equipment utilized includes Meditech charting, Pyxis for medications, BIPAP, and continuous cardiac monitoring.
Requirements
- Active State of HI license required by the start of the assignment.
- At least 1 year of hospital acute care experience within the last year.
Nice To Haves
- Progressive Care experience preferred.
- Telemetry experience preferred.
- ACLS preferred.
- Current PALS preferred.
- NIHSS certification preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide primary nursing care.
- Perform telemetry monitoring.
- Read telemetry strips.
- Perform fingerstick blood sugar checks.
- Utilize Meditech charting.
- Administer medications via Pyxis.
- Operate BIPAP.
- Perform continuous cardiac monitoring.
- Float to all acute units in-house, including Medical, Surgical/Peds, ICU, and ER.
