About The Position

The Progressive Care Patient Care Technician provides direct patient care under the supervision of a nurse, supporting licensed professional nurses and helping maintain a safe, healing environment. The role collects and reports patient information that contributes to assessments and helps the nursing team respond to changes in a patient's condition. The Progressive Care Unit at Missouri Baptist Medical Center is a 16-bed inpatient unit caring for post-operative cardiovascular and thoracic surgical patients who no longer require intensive CVR monitoring.

This is a full-time, 36-hour-per-week day-shift position, scheduled from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The role includes a holiday and weekend rotation and is benefit eligible.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• No experience required.
• No supervisory experience required.

Nice To Haves

• Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under the supervision of a nurse and promote patient- and family-centered care in a healing environment.
• Administer or assist with activities of daily living, vital signs, intake and output, fall and pressure-ulcer prevention, urinary catheter care, phlebotomy, and point-of-care testing as requested.
• Collect clinical data and patient information and report changes in patient status to the nurse.
• Assist the nurse with patient and family education.
• Document patient care activities using correct medical terminology.
• Act as a 1:1 patient safety sitter as necessary.
• Ensure supplies and equipment are available to meet each patient's needs.
• Participate in activities promoting patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
• Participate in professional development.
