Progressive Care Unit Patient Care Technician, PT Days
About The Position
The Progressive Care Unit Patient Care Technician provides direct patient care under the supervision of a nurse, supporting licensed professional nurses in maintaining a safe environment and reducing patient risk. The role collects patient information and reports it to the nursing team to contribute to patient assessments and identify changes in condition. The position is part-time, 24 hours per week, on a day shift from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., with holiday and weekend rotation. The PCU is a 16-bed inpatient unit at Missouri Baptist Medical Center caring for post-operative cardiovascular and thoracic surgical patients who no longer require intensive CVR monitoring.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- No experience required.
- No supervisor experience required.
Nice To Haves
- Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) certification.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care under nurse supervision and promote patient- and family-centered care in a healing environment.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living.
- Perform vital signs, intake and output, fall and pressure ulcer prevention measures, urinary catheter care, phlebotomy, and point-of-care testing as requested.
- Collect clinical data and report changes in patient status to the nurse.
- Assist the nurse with patient and family education.
- Document patient care activities using correct medical terminology.
- Act as a 1:1 patient safety sitter as necessary.
- Ensure supplies and equipment are available to meet patient needs.
- Participate in activities supporting patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
- Participate in professional development.
