Unpaid Programming Intern
About The Position
WFLA-TV/News Channel 8 offers year-round internships that allow students to apply classroom theory to practical experience and learn firsthand about working in the TV broadcasting industry. Interns can test their creative talent, exercise analytical skills, and increase their understanding of broadcasting operations and trends. The internships provide meaningful educational and work experiences designed to meet each intern’s academic and career goals. The management team provides teaching and encouragement, while interns are expected to bring enthusiasm for learning. These internships are designed for learning experiences only and are unpaid. Each internship is 16 hours per week for up to 15 weeks. Interns are well supervised and participate in a meaningful learning experience. Upon completion, the intern receives a written evaluation from the internship supervisor.
Requirements
- Internship should be for school credit.
- Advanced skill level due to the complexity of projects.
- Collaborative worker with a willingness to learn.
Nice To Haves
- Senior in their last year of concentrated study preferred.
- Previous internship experience is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Participate in a meaningful learning experience related to programming and broadcasting.
- Apply classroom theory and develop an understanding of broadcasting operations and trends.
- Complete a written evaluation with the internship supervisor upon completion.
