About The Position

TVO Media Education Group is a social impact organization dedicated to inspiring learning that changes lives and enriches communities. TVO is an internationally recognized digital learning organization that strives to engage, inform, and educate Ontarians of all ages. TVO is an agency of the Ontario Ministry of Education, providing multi-platform educational programming, original documentaries, public affairs content, the largest online secondary school in Ontario, and digital-learning resources. The Programming Coordinator will be an integral part of the TVO Docs team, contributing to various aspects of programming from development to launch. This position will be responsible for the coordination of all prime-time Acquired, Pre-buy and Co-production programs and program assets for both broadcast and digital. They will track the status of each production and be a key point of contact for internal divisions seeking programming details. This role also involves receiving submissions and helping get shows to air.

Requirements

  • 3 years of experience in a broadcast programming or scheduling environment
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and an ability to learn new database software
  • Overall knowledge and understanding of Canadian television production
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with various external stakeholders
  • University or college education with a focus on media

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with TVO Docs Commissioning Editor and Acquisitions Officers to track and manage materials and systems related to programming
  • Track documentary submissions and take part in team submission reviews
  • Track documentary projects in production and maintain a slate tracking system in collaboration with the team
  • Coordinate the delivery of completed commissioned and acquired program assets, ensuring that all materials are delivered to spec, in accordance with contracts and on time
  • Create program highlights packages to share with internal stakeholders
  • Maintain and update the program delivery database
  • Act as a point of contact for outside distributors and producers regarding program format, delivery and technical issues
  • Work with the TVO Docs programming team to curate TVO Docs YouTube playlists
  • Work closely with programmers and digital channel optimization team to coordinate program descriptions and images and ensure programs are distributed online strategically
  • Create and maintain a system to track TVO Originals content materials such as scripts, schedules, cast info etc.
  • Manage special projects such as community events, screenings and internal presentations
  • Liaise with Business Affairs and Content Service team as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
