About The Position

The Program Training Specialist provides direct, consistent, hands-on training, including but not limited to case planning, assessments, working with children/youth and families, court preparation, completion of forms, and documentation for all new Case Managers. This role involves creating learning environments in partnership with supervisors, conducting regular meetings with new hires, developing program-wide trainings, and providing feedback on documentation and performance. The specialist also serves as a relief Case Manager when needed and may be part of an on-call rotation requiring availability, rapid response, problem resolution, and travel. Additionally, the role involves implementing organizational policies, adhering to procedures, reporting critical incidents, and ensuring client rights are protected.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work or human service field from an accredited college or university.
  • Must have at least 2 years’ experience working with children/youth and families in the child welfare system.
  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Must pass a drug screen, MVR, KBI, Child Abuse and Neglect Central Registry Clearance check and an Adult Registry check.
  • FBI Fingerprint check.
  • Must have valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record and reliable transportation.

  • Licensed to practice in the State of Kansas preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct individual or group training to new hires or staff who need additional support regarding the organization’s structure, policies, procedures, and forms.
  • Works in partnership with supervisors to create learning environments for their new hires, including regular communication during the first 90 days.
  • Prepares, sends, and reviews Training Agendas for new hires.
  • Sends, reviews, and monitors completion of Training Plans.
  • Conducts initial face-to-face meetings with new hires, preferably with the employee’s Supervisors present.
  • Conducts ongoing face-to-face meetings with new hires and staff who need additional support at least monthly.
  • Develops and/or facilitates program wide trainings for CMP staff.
  • Submits documentation of training to the appropriate parties for recording purposes within 24 business hours of the training.
  • Reviews new hires’ documentation, case plans, and court reports and provides feedback regarding compliance, grammar, thoroughness, etc.
  • Observes new hires’ interactions, court appearances, and case plans offering guidance and reassurance, demonstrating engagement through role modeling, and providing feedback on their performance.
  • Prepares, sends, reviews, and submits 60/120-day evaluations.
  • Attends team meetings in the offices assigned to build positive working relationships with Supervisors and Case Teams.
  • Responsible for following the organization’s onboarding process and training of new staff.
  • Serves as relief Case Manager, when needed due to vacancies and absences.
  • May be in an on-call rotation where you will be available outside of regular working hours to address any urgent issues that arise during your rotation.
  • Travels throughout the state of Kansas to provide training to SFM staff and others as designated by Program Leadership.
  • Work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of staff and community partners.
  • Implements Saint Francis Ministries policies and follows directives as required.
  • Follows and adheres to all pertinent Saint Francis Ministries Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), rules, personnel policies, and procedures; related accreditation and licensure standards; and federal, state and local rules, statutes, regulations, and contractual terms.
  • Reports critical incidents to DCF according to policy.
  • Reports unusual incidents through appropriate Risk Management, clinical and safety channels.
  • Ensures clients’ rights are protected.
  • Is knowledgeable of and follows all safety procedures.
