About The Position

The Virginia State Police (VSP) is seeking to hire a Program Support Technician in our Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Division at our Administrative Headquarters in North Chesterfield, Virginia. The job duties for this position include but are not limited to: Performing computer format procedures to modify and update criminal records. Researching and analyzing court disposition records which contain erroneous and incomplete information. Verifying accuracy and consistency of data across multiple criminal justice databases to ensure compliance with agency standards. Interpreting complex statutes and court orders.

Requirements

• Knowledge of office practices and procedures.
• Knowledge of general recordkeeping.
• Skill in operating computers and using Microsoft Office applications.
• Skill in using automated equipment.
• Ability to research questionable data by applying established procedures.
• Ability to archive data and records.
• Ability to generate required correspondence.
• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions and pay close attention to detail.
• Ability to effectively communicate in English orally and in writing with individuals at various law enforcement agencies, judicial staff, and the public.
• Ability to respond professionally and efficiently to incoming telephone calls.
• Ability to work requested overtime when assigned by supervision to address peak workload.
• Requires Virginia Criminal Information Network (VCIN) certified, which requires either United States citizenship or a lawful permanent resident of the United States and eligible for naturalization.
• Graduation from high school or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in reviewing criminal history records and legal documents for discrepancies preferred.
