About The Position

Family Health Centers at NYU Langone is seeking a Program Supervisor for an elementary afterschool program in Brooklyn. This role involves determining the vision, goals, and objectives of the program, including administrative operations and curriculum. The Program Supervisor will research and implement developmentally appropriate practices aligned with NYC Department of Education Common Core Standards, supporting the social/emotional, physical, and cognitive development of elementary school children. Key responsibilities include identifying and developing partnerships to enhance programming, implementing continuous improvement plans, and collaborating with the Early Childhood Center (ECC) for seamless continuity of care. The position requires a leader who can support high-quality instruction, coach staff, ensure regulatory compliance, and guide program enhancements tied to new initiatives/grants and facility planning.

Requirements

• Bachelors Degree in Education or a related field (Required).
• Actively working toward a Masters Degree in Education, Child Development, School-Age Education, Social Work, Public Administration, or a closely related field.
• Experience working with school-age children in an after-school, youth development, or educational setting.
• Strong communication, organizational, and team-building skills.
• Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Nice To Haves

• NYS Teacher Certification (Initial or Professional) or currently enrolled in a New York State approved teacher preparation program with demonstrated progress toward certification.
• Two (2) years of supervisory experience in an after-school, OST, or youth development program.
• Experience with curriculum planning, program evaluation, and compliance with NYC DOE and DYCD regulations.
• Experience coaching staff or supporting instructional quality.

Responsibilities

• Review attendance and school report cards and follow up accordingly
• Coordinate staff development (on and off site) and ensuring that new staff receives orientation, incorporating coaching/ modeling and a "train the trainer" approach to staff development to build capacity
• Ensure that children who have IEPs services in support of their individual needs
• Ensure that attendance and program reports are entered into DYCD Connect and OST online in a timely manner
• Coordinating and completing paperwork to SYEP program
• Supervising SYEP youth and coordinating trainings and meeting for them
• Ordering supplies
• Recruit, hire, and observe staff for the purpose of evaluating the quality of service delivery and to identify areas which may require further staff development
• Meeting regularly with school age staff to plan, coordinate, conduct, assess, and build upon educational curricula
• Working collaboratively with the data team and regulatory agencies, develop and implement a continuous improvement process that ensures program efficiencies and impact on student outcomes
• Acting as liaison between the Center and the primary caregivers of participants, as well as the community; establish ongoing communication systems to promote the mission, goals, and activities of the Center, inform caregivers of their critical role in their child's education and life; enlist the support and involvement of caregivers as well as community residents and leaders, in the strengthening of the school age program, and the recruiting of staff and new participants
• Recruiting of new participants for school year and summer sessions
• Collaborate with family support team to assist staff in addressing the educational, health, social and special needs of the participants
• Identify and cultivate partnerships with other community and cultural organizations to enhance programing opportunities
• Ensure that program meets all regulatory and licensing requirements as per the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, the NYS Department of Health and the NYC Department of Youth and Community Development
• Serve as a group leader during the academic year
• Work alongside with Director of Warren Street Center for Children and Families to ensure the overall operation of the center, highest quality of services, and continuity care for all children and families
• Lead the management and implementation of new grants and funded initiatives for the school-age program, including overseeing compliance, meeting program benchmarks, coordinating required reporting, and supporting ongoing funding opportunities that strengthen program sustainability and expansion.
• Serve as Facilities and Maintenance Building Coordinator, ensuring that program spaces are safe, well-maintained, and compliant with regulatory standards.
• Coach staff members on effective classroom management and behavior-support strategies to promote a positive learning environment.
• Collaborate with the Early Childhood Center (ECC) to ensure a holistic, aligned, and seamless continuity of care for children and families across programs.
• Serve as an Educational/Curriculum Specialist or Instructional Coordinator to support curriculum planning, instructional quality, and staff development.
• Act as an Educational/Facility Space Planner to ensure program environments are developmentally appropriate, functional, and aligned to instructional needs.
