About The Position

Family Health Centers at NYU Langone is seeking an Early Childhood Assistant Teacher to join their team in Brooklyn. This role involves assisting the Head Teacher in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate lessons, creating a stimulating environment, encouraging parent involvement, setting individual goals for children, recording observations, maintaining classroom cleanliness, assisting with toileting, and performing various other classroom duties. The position is Monday through Friday with rotating shifts of 8a-4p, 9a-5p, and/or 10a-6p.

Requirements

  • 1 year relevant experience

  • Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Inspects children for signs of illness or injury upon arrival.
  • Communicates directly with supervisor and readily accepts and responds to supervisory inputs.

  • Files incident or accident reports accordingly and as needed.
  • Notifies parents and director when children are sick or get hurt.
  • Uses bleach solutions to clean toys and surfaces as required.
  • Uses the Germ Box effectively.
  • Follows the diaper changing/potty procedures for children accordingly and as needed.
  • Follows the When to Wash Hand policies as posted in the classroom.
  • Follows the hand washing procedures accordingly.
  • Inspects outdoor and indoor play areas prior to play.
