About The Position

The Mental Health Association of Alameda County (MHAAC) is seeking an experienced and passionate Reentry Program Supervisor to lead a team supporting individuals with behavioral health needs and their families as they transition from incarceration back into the community. This role is ideal for an inspiring leader who values collaboration, recovery, equity, and family-centered care. MHAAC is a well-established non-profit organization dedicated to assisting and advocating for people with mental illness and their family members through various programs. The Family Education and Resource Center (FERC) is a family-centered program that provides free advocacy, support, and education to family caregivers of loved ones living with a mental health condition. This program is expanding to include support for family caregivers of loved ones with a mental health condition who are in the reentry transition from jail or prison back into the community. The FERC Reentry Program is unique in that all staff members have lived experience as caregivers to a loved one with a mental health condition or Serious Mental Illness (SMI) who has experienced the reentry transition. The program components include a warmline, education/training/support for family/caregivers, a resource center, assistance with AB 1424 Historical Information forms, support for family leadership development, and collaboration with other MHSA funded programs.

Requirements

  • Lived experience as the primary caregiver and/or direct family member of a loved one diagnosed with a mental health condition and/or substance use condition who has reentered their community, navigated support systems and utilized reentry assistance supports
  • Minimum 2 years experience as a Supervisor
  • Bachelors Degree (additional experience may be substituted for degree requirement)
  • Must successfully pass a fingerprint background check by CADOJ and FBI
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office - Outlook (email/calendar); Word (documents)
  • Some positions require a valid CA Drivers License, daily access to a working motor vehicle, maintain legally required vehicle liability insurance and have an acceptable motor vehicle report as determined by MHAAC's insurance broker

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working within behavioral health, justice-involved individuals and families, or community mental health programs
  • Certified Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist (CMPSS)
  • Experience working with underserved and diverse communities
  • Experience delivering services using video-based platforms such as Zoom or Microsoft Teams
  • Bilingual in one of Alameda County's threshold languages: Cantonese, Farsi, Korean, Mandarin, Spanish, Tagalog, Vietnamese

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily program operations
  • Supervise, coach, mentor, and support Reentry Program staff
  • Ensure compliance with agency policies, county contracts, documentation standards, and HIPAA requirements
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with community organizations and behavioral health stakeholders
  • Monitor program outcomes, quality assurance measures, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Coordinate trainings, outreach activities, family support groups, and community engagement efforts
  • Support strategic planning, staff development, recruitment and on-boarding
