About The Position

This position performs intermediate to advanced level work under the limited supervision of the Chief of the Bureau of Standards, Benchmarks and Frameworks, Division of Career and Adult Education and directs priority leadership initiatives associated with Florida’s State Plan for the Strengthening America’s Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act which includes work-based learning policy implementation and CTE teacher recruitment, retention and support initiatives. In consultation with division leadership, this position assists with policy making decisions related to the state plan. This position is instrumental in accomplishing the mission of the unit and division.

Requirements

  • Four to six years of professional experience working in or with Career and Technical Education (CTE).
  • Experience in creating, conducting, or facilitating professional training courses, working groups, or stakeholder meetings.
  • Experience with public speaking and presenting complex information to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to travel for stakeholder meetings and conferences.
  • Ability to provide work samples of writing skills for grammar, editing and communication review upon request.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical assistance for career and technical education programs by utilizing data from the Department of Education (DOE) and other appropriate services.
  • Direct and implement all Work-based learning opportunity policy in accordance with section 446.0915 Florida Statute and implementing rules and Florida’s Perkins V State Plan.
  • In coordination with the Perkins implementation team, provides oversight and coordination of a comprehensive plan to promote and advance secondary and postsecondary work-based learning initiatives throughout the state. Lead secondary and postsecondary resource development with a priority focus on the quality components of work-based learning: the alignment of classroom and workplace learning; application of academic, technical, and employability skills in a work setting; and support from classroom or workplace mentors.
  • Provide regular work-based learning reports and briefing documents, and data analyses to the Chancellor and Division leadership.
  • Act as Department Liaison with CareerSource and the Florida Department of Commerce for integrated approaches to work-based learning.
  • Direct strategic planning, development, and delivery of the state plan’s CTE teacher (secondary) and faculty (postsecondary) initiatives which may include but not be limited to coordination of educator and faculty development efforts including opportunities to earn micro credentials, and the development of teacher and faculty resources. Provide regular reports and briefing documents, and data analyses to the Chancellor and Division leadership.
  • Develop and publish an annual report on the Money Back Guarantee program.
  • Coordinate the review and approval process for site-based associate-level degree programs offered by school districts.
  • Stay up to date on K-12 and higher education trends/developments/issues, related to CTE and workforce development. Convene external industry or educational stakeholders as needed to consult on key initiatives and implementation ideas and gather feedback and recommendations.
  • Review processes related to CTE, Perkins, and apprenticeship program administration and make recommendations for process improvement as needed and/or directed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
