About The Position

The Georgia Department of Community Health (DCH) is seeking a qualified Program Operations Specialist for the Primary Care Office and Farmworker Health Program section within the State Office of Rural Health. This role involves performing complex administrative duties and statistical, financial, or operational data analysis and reporting to support management decision-making. The specialist will identify trends, discrepancies, and variances to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness, potentially collaborating with other departments, divisions, outside agencies, and vendors. Responsibilities may include administering or providing high-level support for projects, grants, contracts, and the implementation of procedures. The position is located in Cordele, GA, and is a hybrid role requiring both in-office and remote work, with the flexibility for the in-office schedule to change based on business needs. The State Office of Rural Health (SORH) is dedicated to improving healthcare access in rural and underserved areas.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in communication, English, or public relations from an accredited college or university.
  • One (1) year of experience related to area of assignment.
  • An equivalent combination of knowledge, education, job or intern experience, training, or certifications that provides the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted year-over-year.

Nice To Haves

  • Recent clinical experience in nursing or other allied health profession.
  • Experience with completion and submission of federal grant applications.
  • Experience with federal and/or state grant management.
  • Working knowledge of rural hospital and/or clinic operations, services provided, and challenges.

  • Advanced skills in commonly used computer applications.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, apply, and communicate applicable state and federal regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with grant program/project development, management, and administration of a variety of state and federal grants.
  • Assist with the development of grant-related budgets and provide budget monitoring to ensure proper funding allocations.
  • Provide comprehensive and detailed technical assistance to grantees, independently and with minimum supervision.
  • Build and maintain all grant files as required by the State Office of Rural Health.
  • Travel in and out of state to represent the State Office of Rural Health at required business meetings or conferences as needed.
  • Maintain working knowledge of current federal and state regulations, trends, and developments within assigned program area.
  • Identify and assist with the development of new funding opportunities.
  • Conduct research to promote successful grant development and maximum awards.
  • Evaluate eligibility of potential grantees for participation in grant programs.
  • Communicate with internal and external customers to provide information and services targeted to meet customer expectations.
  • Develop and deliver program-related presentations to local, state, and federal stakeholders as needed or requested.
  • Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with area business community, internal and external agency customers, and other related contacts.
  • Monitor effectiveness of business operations, assesses quality of service and makes recommendations to improve operations.
  • Receive additional training, as required, to gain full proficiency and experience in all areas.
  • Gather, compile, and analyze data.
  • Prepare reports of findings and analysis.
  • May make recommendations to management for operational changes.
