About The Position

The Program Marketing Manager is a marketing professional with experience in managing and executing integrated marketing campaigns to reach diverse, global audiences of learners. They effectively partner with clients, internal teams, and external vendors to strategically plan and manage full-cycle marketing projects, driving enrollment for an assigned program portfolio. This role entails a primary focus on operational aspects of marketing campaigns, continually refining activities to achieve program goals. The Program Marketing Manager leverages both technical marketing skills and subject matter expertise to lead efforts to design and implement program-specific marketing plans. This individual works closely with other members of the Marketing team, internal and external marketing resources, and external partners, to execute strategic marketing and communication initiatives in support of a portfolio of master’s programs. We use multifaceted strategies to achieve ambitious marketing and communications objectives including digital advertising, email marketing, search engine marketing, print collateral, thought leadership content, strategic alliances, direct marketing, and social media. This role requires superior attention to detail, the ability to meet tight deadlines, strong project management skills, and the ability to juggle multiple critical requests. A high level of integrity and professionalism in dealing with senior professionals inside and outside the organization is important.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of professional marketing experience, including hands-on management of integrated digital campaigns (email, web, social, and paid media) or related experience. Higher education may count towards experience.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience developing and executing marketing plans to drive lead generation, applications, or enrollments for multiple programs or products.
  • Demonstrated experience with marketing automation and email platforms, web content management systems, and analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics or similar).
  • Proven project management experience coordinating multiple, concurrent marketing initiatives and stakeholders.
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills for marketing and promotional content.
  • Experience in higher education, healthcare, or a similarly complex, mission-driven environment.
  • Demonstrated success partnering with senior stakeholders and presenting recommendations to non-marketing audiences.
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret campaign data, report on performance, and make data-driven recommendations.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems (e.g., Slate), marketing automation platforms, and social media management tools.
  • Familiarity with SEO, UX best practices, and managing or updating web content.
  • Experience managing external vendors and creative agencies.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and time management; comfortable managing multiple deadlines and priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with a collaborative, solutions-oriented approach and a high degree of professionalism.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with graduate education colleagues, master’s program leadership, and external marketing experts to execute integrated marketing plans to achieve application and enrollment targets for assigned programs within the portfolio.
  • Own and drive end-to-end management and execution of assigned marketing projects
  • Help drive the internal and external messaging process, manage approvals and manage the distribution of that messaging to various audiences.
  • Review campaign performance and adjust on an ongoing basis to improve ROI.
  • Assist team with market analysis for new programs and program pricing strategy via market research and leadership input.
  • Ensure accuracy and consistency of program information across all communication channels.
  • Work closely with internal colleagues and manage outside vendors (designers, copywriters, digital marketing agencies) to produce high-quality design and content.
  • Manage execution and usage of the marketing team’s owned assets (website, database, email marketing tool, project management system, etc.).
  • Oversee program and graduate education websites and make recommendations and updates as needed.
  • Write, proofread, and edit various marketing and communication elements maintaining consistency with HMS and Harvard University branding and style throughout.
  • Consult on and manage marketing budgets, emphasizing efficiency and cost containment.
  • Develop and maintain reports and plans that detail marketing strategies, timelines, budgets, and performance.
  • Provide regular program updates to stakeholders (leadership, marketing, education, and business development).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
