About The Position

Dayton T. Brown, Inc. (DTB) is seeking a qualified and motivated Program Manager to join their growing Technical Publications Division in Cincinnati, OH. This is a full-time, on-site position requiring daily in-person attendance. The role involves managing resources to achieve project goals within scope, time, and budget constraints, with a focus on risk mitigation, scheduling, and financial monitoring. The Program Manager will also be responsible for client relationship management, ensuring adherence to ISO 9000:2015 procedures, and serving as a subject matter expert for S1000D specification implementation. This includes overseeing the development of S1000D-compliant technical data modules, analyzing documentation quality metrics, advising on best practices, and training team members. The role requires close collaboration with client engineering, logistics, and customer support teams to ensure accurate and maintainable technical content.

Requirements

  • Proven successful experience as a Program Manager within a technical publication environment.
  • 2 or 4-year degree or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years' experience in the development of technical publications for commercial or military programs - including SGML/XML tagged data.
  • Experience with EAGLE Publishing System or equivalent.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, 3D models, and logistics product data.
  • Thorough understanding of technical documentation specifications S1000D (Issue 4.1 or later preferred).
  • Solid technical knowledge/experience with the development of operational, maintenance, IPB, theory, and troubleshooting information/procedures for aircraft or ship systems.
  • Knowledge of project management principles, planning, and the ability to measure both program and individual job performance.
  • Strong relationship-building, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in pressure situations and to meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications.
  • US Citizenship - Required.
  • Active Secret Security Clearance - Required, or the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Planning, organizing, and managing resources to successfully complete project goals and objectives while working within the constraints of scope, time, and budget.
  • Risk mitigation, scheduling, earned value, and financial monitoring.
  • Utilizing project management tools to track planned vs. actual task performance and key milestones.
  • Evaluating and assigning project work to team members.
  • Ensuring programs follow DTB's ISO 9000:2015 procedures and meet or exceed DTB's quality standards.
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with customers, including attending client and DTB meetings to communicate project status, successes, or potential pain points.
  • Capturing customer expectations to ensure their satisfaction and successful delivery of their product(s).
  • Serving as the lead SME for S1000D specification implementation and compliance.
  • Supporting implementation and configuration of a Common Source Database (CSDB).
  • Providing oversight and quality control of S1000D-compliant technical data modules (DMs).
  • Collecting, analyzing, and reporting documentation quality metrics, including error rates, review cycle times, first pass yield (FPY), compliance scores, and rework levels to support continuous improvement.
  • Advising internal teams and customers on best practices for S1000D structuring, authoring, and publishing.
  • Training and mentoring technical writers and illustrators on S1000D authoring processes and tools.
  • Interfacing with client engineering, logistics, and customer support teams to ensure accurate and maintainable technical content.
