About The Position

McGraw Hill, the leading provider of digital and print educational resources, is looking for a Program Manager that leads a cross-functional team to effectively and efficiently deliver high-quality products across a portfolio. Ensuring transparency of project status from planning through development and delivery, the Program Manager oversees timelines, budgets and resources. A driving force behind collaboration, the Program Manager will look for innovative solutions and provide coaching to promote continuous improvement while remaining aligned to the overall vision. This is a remote position open to applicants authorized to work for any employer within the United States.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required, along with 5+ years of proven experience managing complex projects from initiation through delivery.
  • Project Management certification required or in progress, with a PMP certification expected to be obtained within 1 year of hire.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage, influence, and negotiate with stakeholders and team members to ensure project success.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to assess challenges, develop solutions, and make informed decisions under pressure.
  • Proven risk management capabilities, including the ability to identify, assess, and mitigate risks while adapting quickly to changing project conditions and priorities.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% of the time as required for project meetings, stakeholder engagements, and organizational activities.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing Agile projects using Scrum or other Agile methodologies, demonstrating familiarity with iterative planning and delivery practices.
  • Proficiency with project management tools such as Jira and Smartsheet to support planning, tracking, and cross-team coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Curriculum Strategy Lead on roadmap planning, managing scope, prioritization, scheduling, resource estimation, budget, and risk identification.
  • Lead and coach a cross-functional team to successfully deliver projects, facilitating meetings, removing roadblocks, and fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture.
  • Manage agile project plans and monitor milestones through data-driven dashboards, reporting progress and issues effectively to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Ensure consistent, transparent communication across project teams, stakeholders, and leadership throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Leverage and champion AI-powered tools and workflows, staying current on emerging capabilities to improve team efficiency and delivery outcomes.
  • Champion change initiatives by coaching and supporting team members through transitions, fostering adaptability and organizational alignment.
  • Contribute to the evolution of PMO standards and best practices.
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to optimize processes, tools, and team workflows in alignment with organizational goals.
