About The Position

The Program Manager – Surgery Education job provides oversight and management of the various Surgical residency, fellowship, and medical education programs. This position is responsible for direct oversight and supervision to the education and administrative staff within the department’s educational programs. The Program Manager – Surgery Education position manages functions common to the sub-specialty fellowship training programs including the 2 non-ACGME accredited programs (burns and laparoscopic surgery) and manages budgeting, account reconciliation, information systems oversight, house staff evaluation management, program accreditation, coordination and report compilation and assists with program administration and development. The Program Manager – Surgery Education role functions as a liaison between other departments and divisions, residents and program directors.

Responsibilities

  • Manage large complex cross-functional programs and projects.
  • Collaborate with administration and faculty to improve student and trainee learning and enhance successful academic programs through programmatic and learning assessment.
  • Collect data and monitor the Departments programmatic assessment.
  • Through collaboration with Accrediting Agencies, Specialty Boards, and other regulatory agencies, innovate, develop, implement, and manage the Department’s assessment and accreditation efforts for the required M3 surgery clerkship and training programs in general surgery, plastic surgery, urological surgery, vascular surgery, critical care, bariatric and GI surgery, colorectal surgery, transplant surgery, surgical oncology, cardiothoracic surgery, and burn surgery.
  • Program development, evaluation, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Collecting, analyzing, interpreting, and disseminating findings of quantitative and qualitative data relating to the student and trainee programs.
  • Supervise the work of program coordinators and other staff in a matrix reporting structure.
  • Direct supervision of the departmental education staff to include residency, fellowship, and clerkship coordinators.
