Apex is seeking a Program Manager to be based in our Northern California region. Our Northern California division is home to a multidisciplinary team of project managers, scientists, geologists, and engineers who collaborate on a wide variety of project types and environmental contaminants. Requirements

  • BS in Engineering required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in environmental/remediation consulting with progressive responsibility in technical leadership, project management, client management, business development, and staff mentorship.
  • Strong experience supporting manufacturing, utility, municipal (including landfill), oil & gas, and industrial clients.
  • California PE license required.
  • Demonstrated success generating new business, expanding client relationships, and leading strategic growth initiatives.
  • Proven project management experience overseeing large, complex environmental projects and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience mentoring, coaching, and developing technical staff.
  • Excellent technical writing, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and lead teams in a fast-paced consulting environment.
  • Strong safety mindset and understanding of safe work practices.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and expand client relationships across industrial, utility, municipal, landfill, manufacturing, oil & gas, and brownfield redevelopment sectors.
  • Drive business development initiatives through existing client expansion, strategic pursuits, teaming partnerships, and new client acquisition.
  • Develop and execute growth strategies for remediation, groundwater/soil characterization, landfill engineering, environmental compliance, and water resources services throughout Northern California.
  • Partner with regional leadership, project managers, and technical teams to identify opportunities for strategic growth and increased market presence.
  • Lead proposal strategy, scope development, technical approach, pricing, interviews, and contract negotiations for large and complex opportunities.
  • Represent Apex with clients, regulators, industry stakeholders, conferences, and professional organizations to strengthen market visibility and cultivate strategic partnerships.
  • Support operational and growth objectives by helping drive profitability, client retention, and long-term business development initiatives within the Northern California region.
  • Contribute to a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement while helping shape the ongoing growth of the Northern California practice.
  • Serve as a senior technical lead and trusted advisor on complex environmental and remediation projects throughout Northern California.
  • Provide technical leadership for site characterization, remedial investigations, feasibility studies, corrective actions, groundwater monitoring, landfill systems, and remediation system design/implementation.
  • Write, review, and approve technical reports, work plans, remediation strategies, engineering evaluations, and regulatory deliverables.
  • Oversee project execution, financial performance, staffing, scheduling, QA/QC, and client communication across multiple concurrent projects.
  • Collaborate with project managers, technical staff, and operational leadership to ensure delivery of high-quality, compliant, safe, and profitable projects.
  • Provide technical and operational oversight for environmental, remediation, compliance, and engineering consulting projects across a diverse client base.
  • Mentor and develop junior and mid-level engineers/scientists while fostering technical excellence, collaboration, and professional growth within the team.
  • Promote and uphold Apex’s strong safety culture through proactive leadership and safe work practices.
