About The Position

At Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch, the Program Manager plays a key leadership role by guiding and supporting Mental Health Workers to ensure a safe, trauma-informed environment for youth. As a member of the Leadership Team, the Program Manager collaborates with other leaders to uphold the mission and values of the organization. This role is instrumental in driving progress toward the goals outlined in the strategic plan. Additionally, the Program Manager serves as a primary liaison with external agencies, community partners, and families, fostering strong relationships and effective communication. Starting Salary Range: $2,087.70 - $2,349.72 per pay period. Salary reflects steps 1-5 of an 11-step pay schedule. The starting salary will be determined based on the applicant’s education and relevant experience.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years old or older.
  • Must pass criminal record and child abuse registry background check as required by the State of Montana.
  • An advanced degree in social work or a comparable human service field and two years of relevant experience; OR a bachelor’s degree in social work or a comparable human service field and four or more years of relevant experience.
  • License to operate a passenger vehicle.
  • Demonstrated professional skills in crisis intervention and de-escalation.
  • Demonstrated professional skills in leadership and staff development.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with youth with emotional and psychiatric issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with culturally diverse individuals and build rapport with those individuals.
  • Use of computer and able to quickly learn and use YBGR selected software solutions.
  • Demonstrate being self-motivated, self-disciplined, and diligent with forward thinking.
  • Demonstrate the ability to think of their team over self and define success collectively rather than individually.
  • The ability to effectively interact and communicate with others.
  • Willingness and ability to obtain certification in First Aid/CPR and Violence Intervention Prevention.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership and supervision to Mental Health Workers and Lead Mental Health Workers.
  • Executes supervisory responsibilities in compliance with organizational policies and applicable laws.
  • Plans, directs, and assigns work duties, ensuring adherence to established schedules.
  • Oversees the recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and training of staff.
  • Manages performance through evaluations, coaching, counseling, and corrective action when needed.
  • Ensures staff receive appropriate training and ongoing education.
  • Schedules and leads regular staff meetings.
  • Effectively leads the team toward achieving goals, including recognizing performance, administering discipline, addressing concerns, and resolving issues.
  • Monitors and evaluates staff performance, providing feedback and guidance to ensure professional training, certification, and adherence to YBGR policies and treatment philosophy.
  • Maintains a safe and therapeutic environment that supports youth in achieving their treatment goals.
  • Provides crisis intervention and de-escalation as needed, both routinely and on-call.
  • Manages administrative duties including scheduling, supervision, budgeting, and other tasks as assigned.
  • Collaborates with the Lodge’s Treatment Team, ensuring timely and outcome-focused treatment documentation and implementation.
  • Builds and maintains effective communication and relationships with youth families and external stakeholders.
  • Supports agency-wide strategic goals by contributing to individual, departmental, and organizational outcomes.
  • Actively participates in Performance Quality Improvement (PQI) initiatives.
  • Fosters constructive and supportive interactions with colleagues across the organization.
  • Consistently models and upholds the mission and values of YBGR.
  • Complies with all organizational policies, systems, safety protocols, and procedures.
  • Proactively identifies challenges and seeks effective solutions.
  • Represents YBGR professionally in all external interactions.
  • Engages in monthly supervision and coaching sessions with the assigned supervisor.
  • Maintains cultural and socioeconomic awareness of the populations served.
  • Completes all required training relevant to the role and beneficial to YBGR.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
