About The Position

FWI is building a team to deliver STEM outreach support services for the Air Force Research Laboratory's (AFRL) Next-Gen Outreach Office at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio. As the Program Manager, you will serve as FWI's single point of contact and on-the-ground leader for all contract operations — overseeing a team of STEM educators, project managers, and specialists delivering nationally recognized programs that reach tens of thousands of students across Ohio and beyond. You will be responsible for contract performance, personnel management, client relations, financial oversight, and ensuring every deliverable meets the high standards expected by AFRL. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, education, science, or related field
  • 7+ years of experience leading teams or managing programs — government contracting experience highly desired
  • Comfortable managing people and juggling multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Familiarity with federal contracts or government clients is highly desired
  • A passion for STEM education, youth programs, or community outreach is a big plus
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build relationships, prepare clear documentation, and keep stakeholders informed at all levels
  • Strong organizational and financial management skills, including budget tracking and reporting; experience with government invoicing systems a plus

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support a talented team of STEM educators, project managers, and specialists making a real impact in Ohio classrooms and communities
  • Drive program success by keeping projects on time, on budget, and aligned with quality standards
  • Be the go-to person for our government client, building trusted day-to-day relationships with AFRL stakeholders
  • Keep a pulse on program finances — tracking budgets, managing invoices, and flagging funding needs before they become issues
  • Streamline purchasing and procurement by coordinating approvals and keeping accurate records
  • Make sure every team member is set up for success — from onboarding and security badging to training and ongoing support
  • Proactively spot and solve problems before they escalate, with a solutions-first mindset
  • Oversee any subcontractors to ensure consistent performance and compliance across the team
  • Lead smooth staff transitions during contract start-up and wind-down periods
