About The Position

The Program Manager oversees all aspects of Trellis programs, providing strategic and operational leadership to ensure services are responsive to the needs of children, youth, and families and aligned with organizational priorities. The role leads and supports teams to deliver high-quality, client-centered services while fostering a collaborative environment that promotes staff development, accountability, and continuous learning. It also builds and sustains meaningful relationships with community partners to strengthen service delivery and collective impact. With a focus on continuous improvement, the Program Manager manages program planning, evaluation, budgeting, compliance, and accreditation processes. The role requires an adaptable, solution-focused approach to navigating complexity and ensuring programs remain effective, sustainable, and aligned with desired outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree level in human services or equivalent of education and experience.
  • A preference of 5 or more years’ experience in a supervisory/management position as well as experience working directly with children, youth, families, and the community.
  • Experience supervising, supporting, and directing staff and volunteers.
  • Proven history with providing cultural programming with positive outcomes.
  • Strong leadership, problem solving, interpersonal, collaborative, and relationship building skills.
  • Understanding and application of outcome measurement and logic models.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including proposal writing, media relations and public speaking skills.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License, reliable vehicle and clear driver’s abstract as this position may require you to drive clients.
  • Able to provide a clear Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector search and Child Intervention Record Check.

Responsibilities

  • Commitment to Racial Equity and Reconciliation and ongoing learning to embed these practices into all four strategic priorities and the program framework.
  • Organization, delegation, management, and performance monitoring within designated program(s)/service delivery area.
  • Provide Program Staff with formal supervision to ensure programs are working in alignment with Trellis’s strategic plan.
  • Support or lead aspects of advancing Trellis’s strategic goals of more integrated approaches of various programs within Trellis.
  • Ensure and maintain program safety while adhering to agency policies and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain strong community partnerships with relevant agencies and stakeholder relations that promote awareness of Trellis programs and partner for collaborations wherever possible to best meet the needs of the community served.
  • Participate on internal or external committees as needed, providing, and encouraging the same professional opportunities for Program staff.
  • Participate in the implementation of the Trellis Strategic Plan, attend management and leadership meetings on an ongoing basis.
  • Ensure opportunities for clients, and staff to provide feedback on programs, services, and workplace within the agency.
  • Supporting Staff in managing staff grievances, performance concerns, probations and/or dismissals.
  • Supporting frontline staff and practicum student recruitment, interviewing, and onboarding.
  • Oversight that all staff receive the appropriate trainings and onboarding requirements within the designated timeframe in accordance with accreditation standards.
  • Provide support, consultation, and advocacy on case management and supervisory roles of staff.
  • Create and maintain a positive, supportive, and rewarding work environment in alignment with strategic goals.
  • Seek out, facilitate, and organize mandatory and relevant professional development trainings and workshops for staff.
  • Maintain certification as a trainer in specialty areas.
  • Complete funding proposals, grants, and ongoing funding reports for existing or new funding opportunities.
  • Ensure programs adhere to all contracts, funder requirements, and logic models.
  • Ensure quality record reviews of persons and adherence to appropriate file management served through quarterly reporting and oversight of regular file audits.
  • Oversee that all reporting by Program staff is completed within the appropriate timeline, including but not limited to monthly KPI’s, data reporting to funders, and Incident Reporting.
  • Use data and outcomes collected in each program to inform revisions of current practices as well as to suggest potential new initiatives.
  • Ensure adherence to program budgets and policies relating to fiscal control.
  • Make recommendations to the Program Director regarding program budgets.
  • Other duties as required.
